I always have a jig tied on myself I just assumed I needed to be deeper this time of year on that ocean ( to me ). Maybe I should just fish like I fish and quit worrying about changing so much. Thanks.

I need some help!  In Housen, West end, there is an Indian creek and down by the dam there is an Indian creek.  Am I reading that right?

Posted

If you are asking if there is an Indian Creek off Housen Bayou in the back and another Indian Creek on the south end the short answer is yes.

Thank you JCdogfish for your help.  Is there anyway to know the difference when someone is talking about Indian creek?  Do y'all call one "Indian" and the other "Indian creek"?

Posted

I can't speak for how others would refer to them.  If I was to tell you I was catching fish in Indian Creek it would be the one off the main channel down south.  If I was talking about the other one I would say indian creek off housen or would just say coves in the back of Housen. As with any body of water there are lots of names not on the maps, or on the maps in a couple of places and different names for the same places.  Some of the experts can probably help more.  Also, if I say I am catching fish somewhere you better go there because they are jumping in the boat to commit suicide.

Thanks a lot for the info Jcdogfish!  I like the part about "jumping in the boat"  !  Wish I was there now.  But I will be there Aug. 29 & 30th.  God willing!!!

bigpigjig, welcome ;)

I agree with jc many names are changing but still refer to the old names. Indian creek is on the south end & the one in Housen' Bayou is just the back of Housen'. Millionaire Point is the entire point on the south side of Lowe's creek but to me it is the camp on the end of that point that cost a $1,000,000 to build bach in the 70s.

As far grass I made some phone calls & sent out texts, no one is having trouble finding "grass". The high waters early in the year changed some grass flats but they are still there.

Thanks Catt. I'll look harder this weekend. I'm still a rookie on The Bend especially on the south end. I'm obsessed so I'll learn it.

Not as much grass as last year but its out there for sure on the south end.  I think the higher water and stained water kept it at bay for a while longer but its coming.  That probably kept more fish shallower for longer too. :Idontknow:

Makes sense to me. My main problem is I don't know exactly where to look for a huge grass bed cause I don't have any past knowledge of where they were the year before. I'll find em with more trips. I've only been to Housen one weekend last February and one morning last month. Only been to the back of Six Mile one Sunday morning last March. Caught 10 in an hour and the lightning ran me home. Once to Pirate's Cove on a Sunday morning before coming home. That's my life's experience on the south end so I have a ways to go :)

Whew, sorry so long winded. Like said, I'll be at Fin and Feather Friday thru Sunday. Would love to meet anybody around buy em a coffee, drink, lunch whatever. I'd be honored to do that to show my appreciation for all I've learned from y'all.

Hi all,

New to this site and ran across this awesome thread.  Lots of good stuff here.  Heading up to the camp this weekend. Located on a point in Lanan just west of the Lanan Bridge.  Any reports from that area?  Went in June and was catching a lot of smaller fish around the points in the main bay.

Welcome! I haven't been in Lanan in a long time, but I'd imagine most fish up here should be on points and creek channel swings.

Needing help with two things please !

     1. Sometime back, in this awesome thread, ran across some talk about a very

honest Boat Mechanic.   I failed to write his name down or shop name.  Does

any body remember the name of the shop and or location.  ?? If I

remember correctly, It was some where around 6 mile.  Not sure ??

     2. I am looking for a boat storage, so I can leave my boat for two weeks.

I am coming down to fish TB August 28 and 29.   Leaving for a couple of

weeks, but will be back to fish for six days.  I have a Z-21, so the storage

area would need to be 30 ft. long and of course have electricity.

As always, thanks for your help!
