shaneus Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 someone is going to get some good deals on rods, I'm a loyal person of principle, and i don't care to support shimano anymore. The only way i would be happy is if they would buy all the rods back from me that they are not offering the lifetime warranty anymore.... Quote
Kidflex Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Went back to housen for a few hours this afternoon. Second pitch got this. Right at 5lb on the bogas. D Bombs continue to work for me in the bushes. Got 6 total, 4 keepers. I'll keep at it until I find a better pattern. Quote
ToledoGold Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Anyone fish today? How has weather been on the lake? Quote
Bloodandguts Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 All good reasons shaneus. A question for all: let's say I want to flip or jig in tight heavy cover. If I'm throwing a t-rigged creature (brush hog, craw, etc), how do I keep the weight from sliding? Toothpick? Or is there a better way? Quote
shaneus Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Bobber stpppers look them up on ebay alot cheaper Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Bobber stoppers or just a rubber weight peg. You simply thread it through the weight and cut off the excess. They are cheap, easy, and work! Quote

Super User Catt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Super User Posted April 18, 2015 Dang shaneus I could not do that! I'm so picky about rods I hate it when one breaks, my newest rod is an eva foam handle crucial. I don't think I'll buy another shimano rod but I love the feel of crucials. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Super User Posted April 18, 2015 kedflex, awesome report Ya on south bank of Housen' ? Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Super User Posted April 18, 2015 back water, where were y'all at? Quote
back water Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Catt: We weighed in and some stayed at Lowe's creek. Six mile, Hurricane, patroon and Indian Mound were some of the areas fished. Most of the fish were caught from 8' in. It seems about as many were caught outside the grass as between the grass and the shore line. The fish seemed to be about everywhere. Quote
Rather-b-fishin Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Would you guys say the spawn is pretty much over on Toledo Bend? Quote
ToledoGold Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 A buddy and I Fished Six Mile this past Saturday from 8am-5pm. Landed around 30 bass. Best 5 went 21 lbs. However I broke off on a 7 or 8 lber and my friend also missed one that spit hook and was around same size. We targeted one specific area all day. Maybe a 200 yard stretch. Bass were moving in and out whole time. Flooded buck brush. At times they were cruising the outside of brush in 5-7 ft. water and sometimes they were buried in the smack middle of it. Weightless senkos (5" & 7") and flukes (5"). Wat. Red / Wat. Gold. Quote
Kidflex Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Catt, I took your advice from the beginning of the thread. 944! Quote
shaneus Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 no the spawn is not over! still in all stages down south... Quote
shaneus Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Guys with atlas jack plate problems, atlas jackplate problems I have just dealt with the same thing on my new atlas jackplate. Troubleshot the controls and every component on the system. I found some problems with the motor, and it seems like there are a lot of problems with these TH marine jackplates. Atlas warranty costs you 400$ because you have to pay for shipping and labor but parts are free.......But mine was out of warranty, so I repaired mine versus buying a new one..... So I'm starting a business of fixing the motors on these for 225$ return shipping included with a 1 day turn around time, if I cant fix it, it costs you nothing...... a new eha actuator cost 600-900$. I am a E/I tech by profession and have been rebuilding products like this for 8+ years...... Call or message me to set up your repair 409-749-zero zero one six! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Good report ToledoGold! Sounds like a fun day. And the spawn is not over yet. We are on the tail end of it, but there are still fish moving up down south. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 21, 2015 Author Super User Posted April 21, 2015 Dang shaneus ya having fun? Rods & now jack plate! Kidflex, I like me some 944 during spawn Toledo Gold, awesome! Had 2 friends fishing out of Big Bass Friday-Sunday. Caught 60 total with 28 keepers, top 5 a little over 25#. Football jigs in 14' f water in Negreet. Quote
Rather-b-fishin Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Awesome...good to know. Will be fishing Toledo this weekend. Knowing that will definitely help us as we typically don't get to Toledo Bend but once a year. Thanks guys Quote
Buckjunkie Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Going to the bend this weekend. We're staying at Holly Park Marina. Where is a good place to eat in the general area? Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Big mommas seafood is great! It close to Paulo goachu Quote
Rather-b-fishin Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Fished Toledo Thursday-Saturday and coudn't find a single fish on a bed. 90% of the boats we saw were pulled out to the main lake points and flats for the most part. Had about 15lbs thursday, 7lbs Friday, and 2 small keepers Saturday. Fished Six Mile Thursday. Fished Cypress bend area Friday and extreme south end Indian Village area Saturday. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Sounds like y'all had a good trip. Most fish are done spawning, but with the full moon is weekend there should be a few stragglers moving up. I'll be there Thursday-Saturday staying at bridge bay. Will more than likely be fishing housen down to buck most days. Quote
Ol' Matt Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Y'all make it tough for a guy to stay at work! Really enjoyed reading the thread and taking notes. I've been fishing The Bend since the Mid 70s from Logansport to Sammy Gill mostly. Been trying to learn the South end lately. I learned more from reading the thread than I figured out in 2 years. Hopefully I'll have something to contribute when I get back. Thanks and keep it up. I'll be soaking it up! Quote
