LaRoper Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I can't wait to finish up my hitch over here and get up to the lake! 3 weeks to go!!! Quote
mguidroz Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I fished Sunday (2/8) 7am to 5pm. I fished Housen, 6-mile and mill. Water temp was 52 to 54 in Housen and 6-mile, Mill was 51 so I didn't stay there long. Water clarity was stained in the back and clearer at the mouth. 16 fish with 6 keepers fishing 8 to 12 fow (TR creature baits). The majority of the fish caught were associated with a creek channel and wood. The wind was not my friend Sunday....  I've finally purchased a camp at 6-mile. So if I can make it to the gathering in March, I will glad to help out with lodging.  Mguidroz Quote
jcdogfish Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Congrats on the camp. There are a few of us around there. The wind did not work well either day for me but its that time of year. Quote

BassinHog Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Catt  I will be headed over to the Bend on Feb 21st as well hauling my son and his partner over to fish a high school tournament out of Fin & Feather. Maybe we will run across your path, even though I am sure the lake will be covered up with bass boats. Maybe we can put together a pattern or two we have learned from this site as well as info from friends who have fished the bend. Hopefully this tournament will turn out better than the one we fished this past Nov. One 30# striper was all they were able to catch as well as a few unders. The striper had us going for a while, until it surfaced we were sure we had hooked the new state record.  Bass & Catt  When you look for your areas along the edges of the grass, do you use your side imaging to mark grass points, pockets and clumps, or do you just pretty much look on your maps and fish accordingly. Also, can you usually see the fish with your graph on the edge of the grass, or are they usually sitting just on the inside of the grass line and undetectable with the depth finders. Looking at maybe exploring a few areas this coming Sun (only will have a few hours to do so), but don't want to just show up blind. I have a few ideas that I would like to pursue, but just don't want to show up completely clueless with these two young men. Both are very versatile fisherman and can pretty much fish type of equipment. Our thoughts have been a-rigs and we still have those on our mind, but it also looks like a shallower, rattle trap, spinnerbait, jig & craw type of game plan may need to be pursued. 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Bassinhog, I find areas on my map then graph them with my sidescan to pinpoint exactly where the points, drains, ect are. Sometimes I can see fish on my graph and other times I can't. I don't let that determine whether or not I fish that spot though. I find high per eagle areas and fish them, if I don't get bit in 10 minutes or so I move on. As far as patterns go, I wish I could give you a better heads up on what's going on out there. All I can say is think shallower than you'd expect. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 10, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 10, 2015 Bassinhog, I'm fishing with my brother, his grandson (11) & my grandson (8). It's the boys first trip to the bend so my plan is to duck hooks all day! I pretty much do what Bass said, I really don't look for fish on the depthfinder, I look for structure/cover. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 10, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 10, 2015 Ready for these Arctic fronts to switch to Pacific fronts! Quote

Thx in advance for any input!! Yes! Amy lipless crankbait is good and if you can find some wood a square bill can be great too right now. Quote

Bass-Daddy Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I was there last weekend too getting wind blown . Only had one solid keeper but I believe that I was exploring where they are headed instead of where they were. *** come by the BioborEB table at registration to get your big bass bonus and introduce yourself. That goes for anyone else who is there also . Looking forward to it! Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 11, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2015 Any of y'all been in Indian Mounds lately? Quote
BassinHog Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks guys for the insight. Will try to put a few things to work. Planning on going to Indian Mounds Sun and do a little looking. Haven't fished there yet, but have been given some info to check out from guys who had done well there in the past. Seems like it is a very busy place to visit this time of the year. Â Looking at the next 10 day forecast (yea, I know they really don't know) appears to be a roller coaster. Hopefully the weather will begin to settle out and be helpful to us weekend warriors. Quote
jcdogfish Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I almost went to Indian Mounds Sunday. Rode through the main launch there Saturday afternoon to do some boat trailer scouting and there were only a few trucks there. Met a couple coming out. It was late afternoon so could have been crowded earlier. Bass_Fanatic Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I've been to e mound numerous times the past few weeks. Haven't caught a fish there. With that said though, I know they have to be getting close to moving up on the mounds, the water has just been stained around there. Quote

Wesley Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Yesterday the water temps around Pendleton were 59-60.5 Â The bite was slow. Â Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 12, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 12, 2015 The lake condition is right on schedule! Low & murky until spring rains & then the level will come up by spawn time putting the nest back in the brush! Quote
