As of now I can only get up there for Friday-Sunday. I will try to sneak in a couple of more days but it will be tough. If there is something I can help with let me know. AG12 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 We'll it looks like a warming trend has started. Water temp has climed to 48-53 around Six Mile and Houssen, specifically Sandy and Hurricane. I heard the winning pattern for BnB this weekend was flipping grass in 10-14 ft, but that could be inaccurate. I'm heading up this weekend, I hope the warm weather has them wanting to get active. Anyone been doing any good? Quote

Grangerland Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 We were going to try to make it for the get together but schedules would not allow. So we are headed up there tomorrow afternoon. The weather is going to be the greatest, but what can you do! Going to have a crank, trap, jig, worm, and spinnerbait tied on. Hopefully I will have service out there so I can post a report to share. If you see a red Ranger with white power poles stop and say hello. We will be any where from housen to millionare point. I may have been able to move to the banks and catch a few with the muddy water, but I stayed deep looking for big mommas for basschamps on the 14th. The lake is really in a funk right now. Water is stained to muddy everywhere. Even at the dam it has a stain to it like I've never seen before. Back of creeks is chocolate milk. Water temp was 52 on the lake and up to 60 in creeks. Quote

Can not be 60! According to some on this site the bass would be spawning! Main lake points 18' near creek channels with jigs! Quote

I'd have thought you wore them out. My TB neighbor and his wife caught gaspergoo in his white perch brush and 3 bass shallow. This wife lost a 3.5 that danced at the boat. Said the water was still dirty in San Miguel. I'm headed up Tuesday night thru the weekend. Quote
Grangerland Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Well this place can be very humbling...... My partner caught a 3 1/2 on a black and blue craw bait in at 7 am in 4 ft of water. We just lauched the boat and was fishing our way out to 18 ft of water. We tried doing what felt comfortable and stayed shallow for the first hour. We made it to a creek bend with two points and the river a stone throw away. We focused in 15-20 fow but tried to stay in 18 fow. We saw quite a few fish on the graph and we graphed giant schools of baitfish from 25-40 fow in the creek channels. Toledo Gold Rattle Trap, white skirt double gold willow leaf spinner bait, black and blue football jig, green swim jig, watermelon red 12 in jelly worm and dt 16 crankbait were my weapons of choice. I know Catt says if you dont get a bite on the trap or spinnerbait throw it in the box and forget about them. I love to crank so i kept them out too long and didnt touch the jig and worm as much as i would have liked to. Water was 49 at sunrise and 52 at sundown 54 in the back of the coves we visited. It was a tough day that one bite is the only one the three of us had in 9 hours. We found some really amazing spots with fish in 18 fow just could not get them to turn on. Tournament out of fin and feather this weekend and there were 12-15 boats in jesse lowe bay, we stayed there all day and never even got on plane. I feel like this weather had them in a funk, i know someone out there caught them today, we didnt see anone boat a fish all day. Sorry for the long read, going to have a shrimp boil and going to hit it hard the next to days. Quote

We are close to finding them. If your are at the lake this we would really like to meet you. You said fin and feather has the best burger around if you would like to meet us there we would be honored to buy you lunch. And we have two boats with plenty of room if you would like to wet a line. Saltyredneck Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Been a while since i was able to fish the big pond and report but here goes my first report since august.... Fished Lowes, Oilwell, Negreet, and ended in Big Bass Cove Saturday morning... only three short fish to show for my efforts. Most of my time was spent scouting structure and areas I wasn't familiar with. I did manage to find a few bass on electronics in 15-20 ft of water. 37 degree overnight temps and 50 degree water temps had them lock jawed. I did catch a few on drop shot around 1030am, but boy did i have to work for them. Lost one on rattltrap in the back of a cove in negreet around 11am but had to call it a day bc I was "only there to pick up my boat" and the Mrs. wouldn't have been a happy camper if i would've stayed longer. They are ready to move up and are staging in creeks right near spawning flats as most have said. I hope to get back up after this cold weather wears off. I saw a lot of potential in the coves i visited with a lot of healthy grass and spawning areas. I did hear a great report in the San Miguel area that same afternoon from a buddy.... when the water warmed up the 4-8 FOW bite was on fire. Best water temps i could find was in Negreet, but the water was stained badly. All other areas were between 50-52 degrees by 11am. Quote

Grangerland Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 That is what we experinced yesterday as well. The sun came out around noon and we found 54 degree water and we started getting bit. I landed a fat 3+ on a swimbait waking it just under the surface in the grass. It was thrilling to see it come out of the water when it smashed it. We marked lots of fish both days in 15-20 fow and threw everything at them just could not get them to bite. All of ours these past two days came in 4-8 fow around grass. We thought it got pretty rough out there just before yesterdays storm but this morning with 30 degree temps and NW wind it looked rough and scary out there. We trailered up and drove back to Conroe. The weather was up and down all weekend and we didnt like it and neither did the fish. We will be back in about a month when the weather warms up Quote
