I'm new to Toledo Bend, this thread has probably cut years off the learning curve.  Thanks to all here.  As far as the bream, there are some beds off the point in six mile that has the concrete bulkhead.  Not sure what it is called sorry.

Do any of you use flutter spoons? If so, can you offer advice? I just placed an order and plan on experimenting next trip.

Stumbled onto this thread about toledo bend....WOW & THANKS! In-laws have a camp at Big Bass and I've been going there several times a year for 15+ years. I hail from Prairieville and fish the Atchafalaya Basin pretty regular...not much deep water fishing there so Toledo was always a struggle. I rode as a marshall in the Elite tourny last month just to try and see (and learn) different approaches to tackle Toledo. It was mostly a bed fishing event though. I rode with Brent Chapman (Buck Creek---jerking a blk/silver/org belly Rogue over OFFSHORE grass beds)....Brett Hite (grn/pumpkin chatterbait in Slaughter Crk & Carrice Creek Flats)...Alton Jones (flipping willow tree islands in Tennaha). One thing I noticed is none of them would try different techniques throughout the day!? I guess that's the way (and area) they must have used to catch them in practice so they lived and died with that technique....but they are pro's so I'm not gonna judge 'em. They were all extremely nice and willing to explain what they were doing and why. I did get to see a prototype lure that was used by several of the guys but none of them I fished with made the top 10. I can't thank Catt enough for his unselfishness in helping others....not only with Toledo but also taking time to coach the kids at school. Thanks to all who contribute to this effort and i'll post my results after the next trip to the Bend! God Bless.

Flutter spoons can be awesome this time of year. I would recommend a long rod, 7'6" or so, 20lb floro, and a 4.5-5" spoon. Don't be afraid to throw it around deep brushpiles. It will hang up, but most of the time you can use the weight of the spoon to knock it loose. Some days I let it sink to bottom and rip it 6ft off bottom and let it flutter all the way down again and some days I work it more like a big worm, just small hops off bottom. Experiment and see what the fish want. I hardly ever start out with a spoon, but if I catch a few off a brushpile or ledge on a crank and they shut off I will pull out the spoon!

Thanks Fanatic. I appreciate the tips. I play around with a small slab spoon and seen how easy it is to free after it hangs up. Everything will bite that thing!

well guys i fished my club night time tournament last night. 3 fish for like 6-7 pounds. went flipping during the day and caught 18 pounds, im not very good at night...... o well one more wek of the tournament then im getting married. guy caught 20.5 pounds today and had a 8# kicker so someone is always catching them and others are always struggling.....i fished from lowes creek to mill creek offshore main points and secondary points and flats, also fished around texas island. threw a chatterbait, mag worm, spinnerbat, buzzbait.

Same to you Catt. I had a great day watching the Moss Bluff Dixie Youth team win the tournament in Singer. We asked the boys to win it for us on Fathers Day. They played 3 games back to back to back to back....its was awesome. I can't wait to get off this T/A so I can hit the Bend.
