I fished sprinhill a little Friday and Saturday and saw Casey run by me both days, but never saw him fishing.  I was amazed at the lack of Elite guys fishing deep.  From Thursday - Sunday we caught 16 fish over 5lbs out deep while all the pros were beating the banks.

What did Ole Catt say 4-5 pgs back ;)

I find it interesting we still have spawners, the lastest I remember was the 3 rd week of April. Well for Housen' @ least.

Just for clarification, what are you calling deep?  Especially since you were catching pre-spawners headed "in".

When I think deep in May, I'm thinking straight summer pattern - fish on points headed "out" or set up on ledges in 15-30'.

One has to keep in mind not all bass are doing the same thing at the same time!

The biggest bass spawn first & are first back to summer patterns.

Ya want to catch big bass right now?

Head offshore! ;)

15-25ft is what I consider deep.

Fished a little in San Miguel this weekend with the kids and found a couple of bream beds!!! Did get to slip off for a couple of hrs. to do a little bass fishing. Caught a couple on some points with a Carolina rig. I love fishing deep and graphing. It's almost that time. Did find a couple of areas with some good grass starting to grow. I think I could read the pages on toledo bend a hundred times and not remember all the great info that has posted. I'm ready for us to break down San Miguel creek since I'm gonna start there and learn that creek first. I got my map ready !!!!!

There are quite a few humps & ridges in the mouth of San Miguel!

Posted

When your running into San miguel boat lane from the man lake it intersects with a boat lane that turns north in la state park at that turn is a road bed that travels north and south , fish around intersection

Catt are you referring to the ridges at the mouth of San Miguel around the island? Would the 12 foot contour On the map be a good place to start in this area? I know you like the 15 to 17 contour line but it's not as deep up north.

Posted

Bryan, you must be by me. I'm in the first little cove north of where 1215 hits the water. I work 14/14 & up there every time I'm off.

Pull your map out & have a look!

15' plus or minus 3'; ya know why?

Just didn't know if grass would grow as deep up north. I would follow the lighter area marked 12 ft contour line and look for points and the side of drains. Looking for grass edges. Am I even on the right track? I guess timber would come more into play up north because grass is not as abundant . I wish it would come back like it was in the late 80's !!!!

Ronnie F, I'm the opposite way from you toward the big lake. I'm not in the pocket right by the launch but the first pier after you leave going west. Right beside the house that just finished the new sea wall .

Bryan and Ronnie,

You both pass by my shop on the way to your camps. I have the first big shop on the left of highway 1215, just before JJ's grocery. Y'all stop by and say hello

Will do podna. I come thru zwolle but get gas at j&j's.

Bryan, you must be by a friend of mine. He has the tan camp that had the porch ripped off just over a month ago. That intersection mentioned, I fish around there often. White bass cat w/ yellow bolt & purple & gold flames on the cowling. Stop and say hi if you ever see me.

Bryan, I gotcha now. I remember them working on his sea wall. You basically look at the boat lane going to north Toledo state park.
