B&G, right now you should be close to the bank (6-12') or in shallow buck brush, so no I aint paying that close attention to my depth finder. But then again I know the areas well enough to know that they are there it's a matter of timing.

Great save shaneus!

I think sometimes I hate the whole "spawn", I mean ya work your _ss off putting together a pattern & then the weather changes!

Sorry guys I do get pumped during spring but give me summer night & full moons!

Going to be heading to Toledo Bend for a week from March 31st to April 5th. Looking forward to it. Been a few years since I have been over there. Last time I was over there was 2007 and only caught a few keepers over 3 days. I'm thinking them to be in a post spawn pattern. 10-15 ft on grass edges around the mouths of creeks?

Hound_dog I wouldn't bet on that!

I've caught em in mid April spawning, in Hurricane, for 4 days straight!

I'm not that familiar with the lake to know where Hurricane is at. I'm going to be staying North Toledo Bend SP and fishing around there. If the wind isn't too bad I can run to other parts of the lake but I know how big it is and could fish around there and still not hit everything in a week. I will keep it in mind to look up shallow.

When the weather is warm they are catching every where.

On the North end where you will be staying, I would say the majority of the fish will be post spawn, but still a decent number on beds or guarding fry... Down south (Indian mounds and south) I will strictly be sight fishing.

Still got a few weeks till I am over there but looking forward to it and just trying to do some planning ahead.

I will be on Toledo to fish all day Saturday and Sunday half a day. (3-15 and 3-16) I go there once a year but normally on the first week of April. I wanted to try to hit the first good wave of spawners so i booked this March trip. I am staying at tranquility bay in lanan and usually do well in beech bayou and the coves on the southern end of lanan on weightless worms shallow. Can i expect a similar pattern if the fish were to move up or do i need to think deeper? I'm wondering if the cold weather we've had will push things back, and thus, provide a february pattern in March???
While i primarily will be fishing lanan and perhaps hurricane creek, i am willing to run to san miguel/1215 but no further as my boat is aluminum and only 17'. Would anyone be kind enough to lend me some spots to check out and/or lures? I am willing to provide any info i have from fishing this weekend. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather keep it somewhat private.
Thanks in advance
PS: This thread and website rocks!! Best bass fishing site bar-none.

Guys the newly formed hemphill bass club has 45 students signed up. Most are new to fishing and have nothing to fish with. The first tournament is March 22nd. Anyone interested in helping should contact Mrs. Bennet 936-275-8231

You can follow them on facebook as well search for hemphill hornet bass club.

Wesly, PM sent!

MicahB, th biggest struggle for many anglers is the shear size of Toledo Bend.

Don't let boat size bother you, pick a Creek Channel Cove & learn it. With a smaller boat you'll need to trailer to other areas, I still trailer a lot.

Lanan, San Miguel, San Patricio, Patroon are all outstanding creeks.

Hello, Andy here. I've been following this forum for over a year now but finally decided to create an account and post.

I have a place on Lanan and go every weekend during spawn, but am relatively new to the bass game. I have had most of my success at Slaughter Creek but thats because I've spent the most time there. Caught a 6 pounder there last week on a red rat-l-trap. Had a lot of success there last year during spawn. Went to San Miguel last weekend for the ifrst time. Looked like a  good area but no bites, also very busy. Any advice on this weekend? Baits? depth? area? Also, with it looking likely to rain and still not be very warm, is it still worth my 4 hour trip up there?

A lot of people throwing A-rigs.
