scott m Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I read that report on TFF the other day. How do ya'll think it will be this weekend after this cold snap and with a full moon? I'm thinking about going to the south end this weekend. I've only fished the lake once and not on the south end. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 12, 2014 The best time to go fishing? Any time you can go! I'd start @ 10' Quote

Express Kid Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 How deep were you fishing Shaneus? Quote
scott m Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Dang, I'm planning on fishing Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday. I've only been to the lake once and fished in Housen and Hurricane. I was planning on fishing the very south end on the Texas side cause I'm going to stay in Jasper. I thought the fishing was pretty good and I really want to learn the lake cause I like it and wouldn't mind maybe one day putting a camper on the south end. But I know Falcon pretty good and have a few contacts with guides down their that can get me on a pattern. After that one report last weekend on Texas Fishing forum I was thinking it was on at Toledo bend. What do ya'll think? Is the bite decent or is it going to be a struggle for a guy that plans on throwing gold/black back/orange belly,,,red chrome,,, and Toledo gold rattle traps? Any suggestions? Quote
scott m Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Alright guys I'm sticking with my plan and leaving in the morning to fish Toledo bend. Any info on fishing West prong Indian creek, Buck creek, and Copperas creek would be greatly appreciated, or what page has it already been talked about on. Thanks Catt and everyone that has contributed to this awesome thread, Scott Quote
shaneus Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 we fished from 2-20 ft, im going again monday and tuesday im going to try a few different spots along with water to 35 ft. Quote
shaneus Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 i got lots of idling to do searching for some fish, i have a club tourney wednesday, and another tourney friday sat and sunday with friends so hopefully i can at least catch some fish. no bites the last three times out Quote
scott m Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Ill post a report when I get back. They just caught a 15.37 at champs this morning on Falcon. Hope im not making a mistake not going there. I just really liked t-bend the one time I went and ill never learn if I go were I always go which is Falcon. Quote
six-mile C-Rig Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'll be on fishing Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll try to remember and give a report each night. Scott M, to answer your previous question about Indian and Buck creek, There is always lot of good fish caught in both of those creeks. Both of those creeks have lots of grass, in certain areas. In years past (I haven't fished either this year), In the bay that serves as the mouth of both indian and buck creek, I've found grass as deep as 20'. Also, there is lots of deep water in both creeks. This is just my opinion, but if you want to get in on a more shallow pre-spawn bite, you will need to venture further north. That crystal clear water down on the extreme south end of the lake always takes forever to warm up. I also saw the pic of the 15 on TFF, what a monster. And unlike the fool who caught the 12.8 on Toledo, the angler at falcon did what was best for the lake, weighed in early, then RELEASED IT. I was very happy to see that. Quote
scott m Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Hey thanks for the response Minnow. I agree I wish the guy that caught the big fish at Toledo would have let it go. I just got off the phone with a super nice guy that has a camp at six mile that I met at the diner there last time I was there and were going to go tomorrow. I was hoping for better news about the south end, being I can stay for free at the Holiday Inn express in Jasper. Looks like I might be driving from the Holiday Inn Express to six mile every day but its a whole lot better than driving from south Houston to their every day. Thanks again, Scott Quote
ToledoMard928 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I was hoping to have some good news about my trip to the Bend yesterday. Unfortunately I am reporting my first scratch in 15 years. Fished 6 mile and sandy from 2 to 25 fow with just about everything in the box.....not a nibble! The water was muddy in the back to mildly stained at the mouth, water temp was 49 in the morning to 51 around 2 when we gave in. On a positive note a friend of mind fishing out of pirates caught a 8:13 today on a white spinnerbait. He said he did not get many bites today other than the big girl. Quote
Cooyahn73 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Didnt fish Friday but made it today! Caught 10, but it was slow and a struggle all soft plastics, wacky, senko and tr! My newphew broke off a big fish at the boat between 8-10 lbs! Be at them again tomorrow all fish between 8-15 fow! Quote
hunterfishes Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Just wanted to update everyone on the Ignition Bass Youth Fishing league Tournament held Saturday out of Fin and feather. We had a really good pratice on Friday had 13lbs on traps and square bills. On Saturday Morning we had a weak front come through and it shut things down after 8:30. Hunter had 2 on a trap for around 5 lbs at that time. we finally slowed down and went to a shakey head and about 11am he pitched by a stick up standing on the edge of the creek in bull branch and stuck a 6.03 lb. We never got another bite so went with that and had 11.00 even. It was tough on all divisions. the next closest behind him was 4.59 in the all star division (16 to 18 age group). Hunter won big Bass Big Stringer and the Major league division (13 to 15 age group). There are lots of fish up the creek on the flats in 4 to 7 foot of water, but the weather can make them tough to catch. we found that all our fish came within one cast distance of the creek channel. The front had moved them back on the grass line at the drop. water temp was 47 warming to around 50 but 1pm. our trap was toledo gold and the shakey head was a zoom trick worm in California color 1/8 oz. The weather should make the bigs ones move this week Good Luck everyone. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 17, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 17, 2014 It's on! Went where I aint been in 10-12 yrs, we went up to Teneha & Hart's Bluff. Only fished 3 hrs but boated 8 bass all on 3/8 oz Stanley Vibra Shaft, nothing over 3#. The west side of Housen' from the front to the back & then the east side halfway to the front! Just saying! 1 Quote
hunterfishes Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 We also want to say thanks to Fin and feather for hosting the tournament they were outstanding and the food is great at the resturnant. They have the best cabins around Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 18, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 18, 2014 hunterfishes, I like that color Trick Worm! I'm also trying out Bass Assassin Tapout Quote
rogueagent Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Had 18 today on burgundy color trick worm with 1/8th ounce shakey head. Three keepers. Started at 9 this morning but didn't get our first bite till 1. Every day is better than the day before. Looking forward to tomorrow! Quote
shaneus Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Congrats on the win, y'all did better than me. Caught 5 yesterday on a fluke/trick worm all small. Not a single bite today. Fished six mile flats housen. I'm thinking about giving up fishing lol Quote
Express Kid Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 fishing is still tough right now we had a tourney on red river at Grand ecor Saturday and out of 34 fisherman only nine weighed in fish. only two had 5 fish but one guy had 5 fish for 19+ pounds with a 6+ pound big bass. not sure of exact weight because i was one of the 25 that zeroed and wasn't just standing up close to the weigh in.LOL water is warming up and i hope to be on the Bend this week prefishing for a club tourney there March 1. should be better water temp by then. figure i will try the Lanana Bridge area and maybe 1215 to see if we have any movement. keep the reports coming i know it will be on soon. six-mile C-Rig Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Didnt get to fish Monday, But did fish today. Fog kept us in so we didnt start fishing until 930. Between me and my partner we caught 28. 18 were keepers. I cant give away too much right now. So, I will be vague with my report. 6mile, housen, toro; the bait resembles shad.
