mguidroz Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Anybody fish this weekend? I did but it was more casting than fishing. Lol. I fished Friday and half day Saturday. One fish Friday and three Saturday. All fish were caught in 12 to 15 fow. One on a CR and the rest on TR watermelon red and cotoncandy recon worms. I tried crank bait, rattle trap, spinnerbaits and jigs with no takers. Fished Housen and Mill. It was tough but enjoyed meeting and fishing with Cajunpapi. Quote

shaneus Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Yes read all the pages, get you a 7' med hvy rod and a reel. I recommend lews at academy for 99$ and a bucoo or vendetta rod for 79$. This is a all around good rig starting out, save some money and get something decent to start with if you can 1 Quote

moe1967 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Catt,  I stumbled into this thread a few days ago and can't believe the amount of info that is here. I've read almost every page - a lot of it twice. You have me looking at Navionics Web App & Acme Mapper constantly, LOL. I'd like to thank you and the others for sharing this info for it is invaluable.  I and, for the past few yrs, my 11yr old son usually make at least 1 trip to The Bend per year. I have never fished the most southern part of the lake on the Texas side. I know you've talked about Six Mile, Housen, Mill creek, Indian Mounds, etc.  I plan on launching at Shady Oaks.  In all honesty, I'm looking for quantity for my better half to catch. I have a small 17ft alum boat so I can't run too far. Want can you tell me about Indian Creek and Buck Creek areas?  Thank You in advance Quote

six-mile C-Rig Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Hey guys, it's been a while since I been on here. Just a few reports, I bass fished 3 times in December and man was it slow. Never caught more than 5 fish. The usual deep offshore spots don't seem to be holding an abundance fish, and i haven't got a clue as to why. Bait is there, just not many bass. I was thinking about fishing grass next time I go, but from reading some of y'alls reports, that doesn't seem to be the ticket either.???? I did spent 1 morning at the coop, Thursday dec. 26. Left with 28 crappie. 5 at or over 2 pounds. Quote
henrylewis Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I have read all of this the reports are good i will be up there next weekend for a highschool tournament any baits that they were hitting? Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 3, 2014 Tournament! This weekend! Good luck with that! I'll be staying home Mouths of major creek channel coves, 12' out deeper, wacky worm, jig, t- rig, deep crank. Fish slow as in cover the area with cast! Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 3, 2014 henrylewis, the hardest part of tournament fishing is you have go regardless of weather. This time of the year I carry a rain suit, wind suit, down insulated suit all for one weekend. Next weekend aint looking any better than this weekend! Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 3, 2014 Yes sir Don't worry I aint done with you yet! Quote
Express Kid Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I saw a picture of a ULM Collage guy that caught four bass on New Years day between 6 and 8 pounds in the Twin Island area fishing with the A-rig and Lipless Crank Baits in 15-18 feet of water grass. The friend that had the picture told me he was headed up today to fish. I have not heard what he is catching but I would like to know what these tournaments way in in the next few weeks. 1 Quote
Express Kid Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 HenryLewis Catt always teaches 15+or- 3. It has Proven out for me and it is what we are hearing now. Moe1967 I am just starting to fish the Indian Creek, Mill Creek and Buck creek areas so I cant help you yet but there is plenty of grass and points that run into the creek channels that should hold bass now. I will keep posting what I find in that area.   Quote
