Bass_Fanatic Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Yep, my boat should be good to go. Im picking it up from Toledo Fiberglass this week! Quote
Express Kid Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I have a boat ready to go. Forget cleco fished four hours with two small hits could not find bait fish. Looked all over the lake and did not even find a school of shad. Water was 65 degrees but nothing in the water. Water is so nasty that It left a stain on boat and trailer. I will not waste my time going back! Quote
bullet20 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I probably won't make it, I work 7 n 7 and i my make another run for club championship again if schedule fit's. Quote

I never had one before but at that price it is worth trying them out. I have 4 WM rods, so far no issues.....I have the 7'8" deep cranking glass rod from the same series that are on sale. I have not had any issues so far, definatly worth the price. Quote
ToledoMard928 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I have not been able to make it to my favorite fishing hole for a couple of weeks but I did get a report from a friend of a very good C-rig bite on a main lake point. He was in the Six Mile area in 16 FOW around timber, with 35 FOW+ water nearby. Slowly dragging a C-rig craw worm, caught several in the 3-4 pound range.  I hope to head up Thursday to put a few of my own in the boat!!! Bass_Fanatic Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I should be up there Friday to get a line wet. Hoping the wind lays down and it's not freezing!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 16, 2013 Hey! No pre-fishing! Oh! Wait never mind! Huh! I gotta a bunch crank bait fisherman on my hands? Other than Traps crank baits are my weakness, not that I can't throw them, I just don't. I know, had my nose rubbed in em several times, looks like I might again. C-rigs are deadly in cold water, try a 1/4 oz weight & craw or lizzard. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 It appears we have a similar weakness Catt. I do not throw them either. Quote
Express Kid Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 i will know soon. Thanks again for the info on the rods. I love to crank and feb. is a good month to do it. Should be interesting tourney. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 16, 2013 Looks like an awesome week of weather Quote
RonnieF Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I have a boat. At the moment on a lift but trailer is under the garage and definitely available. Quote
Express Kid Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I am wanting a new jig rod and I like the duckett white Ice. Is this a good rod choice or is there a better one out there that I should look at? I am only wanting to spend a couple bills on one. Any suggestions? Quote
Express Kid Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Wow tbat is great weather. Should be great fishing! Quote

Express Kid,  If you're looking at Duckett rods.........make sure you consider the ones listed below on Duckett's website. I have become partial to 7'-6" length rods and have both of them. They are definitely my top two favorite.  DFMM76H-C (heavy action) football head jigs, 1 oz spinnerbaits, carolina rig   DFMM76MH-C (medium heavy action) 1/2- 3/4 oz open water jig, carolina rig, 3/4 oz spinnerbait, mid-size swim baits  Either can be had at Bass Pro for around $160.  Just my $.02 Good luck shopping.  Bear 1 Quote
shaneus Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I go with the Shimano rods, I use Shimano cumara for feel techniques and Shimano crucial for moving baits. Best rods for the money and by far the industries best warranty...... 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I have a duckett and a cumara and both are fine rods! Once you get in the $150-200 range you can't really go wrong, but I prefer the Powell endurance 714c. I liked it so much I bought 2! Heck of a jig rod IMO. 1 Quote
shaneus Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 and to be honest i cant afford to fish with anything else, i dont know if its the rods or me but i break 4-7 rods a year fishing. ship them back which cost 5 bucks at the post office and within 2 weeks you have a new model rod even if the rod is 5 years old, you get the current years model, i just got new cumara maroon rods warranty exchange, cant wait to put them through their paces. i had a 7'7 flippin stick i broke and they sent me their 7'11 flippin stick (maroon) it is half the weight....... 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 17, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 17, 2013 I have two Crucials, one with a full cork handle which I love & one with a split grip EVA which is still under review! I hate breaking rods cause it's so hard for me to pick a new one. I might break one every 3-5 yrs! 1 Quote
