fishingcajun Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Sounds like you plan on fishing the Mcdonalds now. Don,t blame you, If i had fish located like you have posted on, i would camp out on the place the night before, just joking!! . Anyway, if you do fish good luck. P.S. I am still going to email you from work probably around 13 or 14. to see where you stand, hope your fish or still there. JcFreak - welcome, we can always use another fishing partner scouting and reporting for the forum. I will be up there Wednesday night, have to work on wiring a new building Thursday, but hope to start scouting for MCDonalds after that. Think i will concentrate on nothing but ledges and humps. Picked out a bunch on the map and will check them out. Hopefully i can find one in the area of the camp thats maybe not on the maps. Hope to give a report after the weekend. Quote
hobo1616 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Back water which lowes creek was that? We would have had around 23 lbs for a two day weight. I did have a friend up there who caught a 6lb bass that was prespawn in the sandy creek area. He doesnt fish much and caught it kept and cleaned it and was asking what the yellow things in the fish were. It was in about 2 ft of water about to spawn. Quote

I have a lot of work to do around the house before then lol. Make sure to PM me a few days ahead and I should know for sure. Good idea sticking to ledges and humps. All the community holes are going to be pounded...but if you can find one that is not as well known, you will probably have better luck. My problem is that my spot is no secret, its just a spot on a spot actually. Good luck to all and I will post Thursday letting yall know how it goes tomorrow. Quote
fishingcajun Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Sounds good, I dont have internet access at the camp. I will check back in Sunday PM. Good luck. I will PM you with my cell number in case you have a break down and I am up on the lake. You never know !! Quote
Dam Yankee Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I haven't been out in weeks. I am probably going this weekend at Army rec site. No plans on where I am going yet though. I gotta do some studying!! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Well, I went Wednesday and there are still fish on the spot. I noticed early that I wasnt seeing nearly as many fish on my graph but there were still a few schools. I ended up catching 40, all bass. Apparently all the whites moved off, but the black bass were still hanging around. I would go an hour without a fish and then I would find a small school on top of the hump in 15 FOW and throw a marker bouy on em and catch em. Caught all fish on a Strike King 6XD and a A-Rig. Ended up with two 3lb fish and one 5lber. The key is to find a school that has moved up on the hump willing to bite. I found em in 40FOW all day long, but couldnt catch em, but once they moved up, they bit. Quote
fishnla Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I've been on a spot like Bass-Fanatic is talking about for about a month now (a spot on a spot and catching anywhere from 17 to 35 FOW). Went saturday but didn't spend all day there I ran around because the wind finally allowed for it. I ended up not catching the size that I had been, but never really got the schools fired up either. I caught 50 to 60 fish (50% largemouth and 50% whites). Majority was on drop-shot in 24 to 33 FOW. But I have to add something to what someone on here mentioned a few days ago, fish STILL have eggs. I decided to keep six fish to fry up today and five of them had eggs the other was a kentucky. Had fun but just getting more and more confused as to what these fish are thinking this year. Quote
back water Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Fished the TTT (Texas Team Tournament) this past Sat. on Lake Livingston. We had our 5 fish limit, but nothing of any size. There were 140 boats and they paid 21 places. 19+ lbs was the winner, down to 11.87 lbs. We had 11.04. Oh well one good fish would have put us in the money. Good luck to those fishing the Big Mac on the Bend. Looks like ya'll have some good fish located. Quote
BulletDon Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Congrats on the 5 fish limit, what was your pattern on livingston? Quote
back water Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 The fish were holding at 5 to 10 ft. on underwater structure. Almost all of our fish were caught on white chatter baits. Keep a tight line Dutch Quote
Jcfreak Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Back Water: I wish I knew you were going to fish Livingston....I live on the lake and could have put you on some fish. My team partner won the Thurday night big bass with a 5.25. He had another just under 5, a 4 and several 2-3. Not bad for 5:30-8:30 tourney. After the 2 5's. I told him to get off the spot. He went and sat in the shade and found some more fish. I was working and couldn't get home for either tourney. I was on TB on Wed. Launched at 8:30 close to Pirates. I ran new water and didnt find anything to get excited about. My buddy was in Housen, so i headed over about 11:00. I fished the south side and found fish in 16-20 fow. They were feeding on shad. Caught 2 on med diver then 4-5 on trap, then several on flukes and sencos. I keep slowing down and it increased my bites. Most fun was on a WR/White Ribbit. Man they hammered that thing!!! Biggest fish was 2.5lb, a couple around 2 then pretty much 20 dinks. All in about 1.5hrs. Wind was blowing across a point and helped the bite quiet a bit. Moved around the rest of the day with just a few short strikes. After 2:30, zero wind and blazing hot. I was done at 4:00 and was happy to be in the A/C. Buddy caught fish on sparse pencil grass that was in more open water. He said he caught fish all day and stayed till dark. Lots of fish, no size. biggest about 2.5. Talked to a guy that said he was catching the as far back into the grass as he could cast. All small fish. I went out today down by the generators. I found some offshore fish on a hump/drop off. I had 10-12, biggest about 3lbs. on a TR fluke. I caught several on sencos and chugbug. Most guys were beating the banks. Moved over to mouth of Indian after gen shutdown and had several bites on one dock. Missed a fish and caught short, one hung up. Threw a chugbug on another main lake point. Had several swirls but no hookups. Mosquitos ran me off the water sooner than I had hoped. I think the deeper fish are using the "old" grass and hydrilla that is out deeper. I have found them stacked up in two places with both being in the 14-20 fow with lots of dying (brown) hydrilla. I'll be out again tomorrow. I think i'll head to housen to see if i can find some bigger fish in the area from Wed. Quote
alwayslooking Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 caught my fish saturday, on mcgee flats,,up to 3lbs,,lots of pepper grass in the 10 fow range, lots of fish to be had but all smaller, i fished from ice box cove to hickory ridge, watching my electronics fairly close and never did see a school of fish in the 20-25 fow range, checked several points and a couple of humps i know about and couldn't not mark 'em, any less depth and you're in the hydrilla, i have a feeling i'm going to get a pretty good flipping bite in the pepper grass this year, we'll see Quote
back water Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Jcfreak: It sure would have been nice to have met up with you a little sooner. A fully rigged triton for having 20lbs would have been great. The winning stringer came from boat docks. My fish came out of Kickapoo. I will sure keep you in mind when we have our small club tournament the 18 and 19th of August. keep a tight line. Dutch Quote

Wesley Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Well, We fished BassNbucks Saturday and caught a lot of fish. We caught White bass, Gaspergu, Gar, and Black bass. We weighed in 17 pounds and finished in 15th place. We had a big bass of 6.4. 27 pounds won and it took about 22 pounds to get in the money! Quote
BulletDon Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 That is a decent sack Wesley. What was your primary pattern? Good luck Catt Quote

BulletDon Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 thanks fo rthe update, good luck to all that are fishing the BBS. Wish I was there and we could swap stories and drink a few. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I have never fished it before but, I am gonna give it a shot. Question......how close do you let other people get to you before you say something to the other boat? Or do you say or do anything at all? Curious to know how you guys handle these situations. I have only fished a few tournaments. Usually out of the army rec. I have never fished with this much traffic before. Quote
BulletDon Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 man just be courteous, typical rules or 25 yards not anchored and 50 yards anchored. Not sure if they have one here Quote
