Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 12, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted August 12, 2013 Finally got a new rig and re-visited the Dotte last night, 08/10. Wife and I caught 5...all smallmouth and all dinks. Producing were plastic worms and tubes in most of the obvious areas. Will be out at the Wednesday nighter this week. First timer, and never caught a keeper bass at Wyandotte. Loving my chances If you see me out there in this: Catching these: Come say hi. Very nice looking boat by the way. I'd love to find a newer Triton aluminum that was what I'm looking for and in my price range. Quote
Chris S Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I fished the Dotte Saturday with my son and his buddy we caught crappie at the dam on ned rigs drifting in 25 to 30 feet of water, they where stacked up from 30 feet to 15 feet deep for about 150 yards, biggest was 14.5 inches, even the Lake patrol came over and took a pic of it Here are few of the big ones. 2 Quote

SuperFluke Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Fished the bass tourney last night for the first time with my brother, Kyle. Got to meet Bluebasser86 and Kansasfisher08, which was definitely the highlight. Living bassresource legends, those two, and they lived up to it by winning the event with a single 2.66lb LM. We caught about a half dozen smallmouth on a drop shot and wacky rigged worm. One was my PB Smallmouth for Wyandotte at 15" that I caught on a deep ledge with the dropshot. I also caught a 14.5" LM in the last 15 minutes on some kind of craw that I dug out of my box in the dark in the marina cove. Even though we didn't weigh in a fish, it was a lot of fun, and we'll be back once we figure out where some of those keeper LMs are hanging out. Quote

We got lucky and our plan came together for us, doesn't work that way very often unfortunately. We did have pretty good numbers of bass (Chris did anyways). I only caught 5 all night just happened that one of them was our keeper right as it was getting dark. I hope they follow the plan again next week but with the more seasonable weather they're calling for I don't see that happening. Quote

SuperFluke Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Fished this evening from 6 to 9 to see if I could get on any better fish. Tried some new stuff and some old stuff and boated a half dozen LM. No keepers. Lost a good sm on a jig. Dropshot was the only bait that I could get a bite on. Quote
joefish Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Fished Wyco today from 6 AM to 10 AM, caught 14 fish combo smallie and LMB. Two Keepers one 17". Jigs and tubes worked the best. Jigs on LMB tubes for the smallies. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 24, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted August 24, 2013 Jon and I caught a lot of fish Wednesday night. A lot of close ones but nothing quite 15". Shakyhead, dropshot, walking baits, plastic worms, jigs, even one on a frog for good measure. Best night of catching I've had on the Dotte for awhile, probably approaching 30 fish in the boat in 3 hours. Quote
SuperFluke Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 wife and I fished this morning from 6:45 - 10. We probably caught close to 15 smallmouth and a couple of largemouth thrown in as well. Ran into Chris and his son. They were out chasing crappie and nice enough to say hello. Hope you guys found 'em! Will probably be out this Wednesday night... need to quit catching smallmouth and try to focus on catching largemouth. 1 Quote

The spot we got em at last time had a pontoon anchored on it : ( Quote
SuperFluke Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Wednesday nighter was really tough last night. Caught a keeper walleye on the end of a long point in 30' on the main lake. Caught a decent smallmouth on a frog. My brother caught a few nice smallmouth on a dropshot, but nothing close enough to measure. One fish weighed in out of 13 boats, but it was a nice 4.04lb largemouth. Quote
cbass12 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I fished it with Bluebasser. Too bad the tourney doesn't go later, we only started to get into them in the last 45 minutes. I had a couple fish on at the end that possibly would have won the thing if I had landed them. Both on a shakyhead. Quote

Last night, my brother and I were debating as to whether a headlamp would affect topwater fishing in shallow water. I was thinking it wouldn't, plus it's really hard to cast towards the bank without a little light on it. Anybody have an opinion or more experienced view? Quote

Your eyes adjust after a few minutes and you should be able to see fairly well. Quote

That brings up another question, do you turn on your navigational lights? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted August 29, 2013 That brings up another question, do you turn on your navigational lights? I do but I almost always cover up the back, yellow light so it isn't as bright. It isn't pointed at the water like a headlamp will be a lot of the time either. Quote
joefish Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 What bait are you guys using on the Shakey heads at Wyco? I have not had much luck using short worms. Quote
kanasbassfisher08 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 i like a zoom finess in i think6 inch wm candy is good for me or redbug but sometimes those fishjust dont hit a shakyhead i can only think of a couple nights that they were really eating it this year ive even done good on a june bug color but think that was mostly smallies though maybe just a fluke deal but hope it helps Quote
Ku Xiong Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I use the Strike King Elaztech finesse worms 7 inches. They stretch without breaking and float tail up with a shakeyhead. Just use a gel super glue to keep it on at the base of the worm. Quote
SuperFluke Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Berkely Havoc bottom bouncer with any watermelon color have been ok for me this year. Quote
