kms399 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 For me, absolute garbage. Ive been fishing in the eden prarie area throwing everything I got. I have been averaging around 10 fish per trip average trip is 4-6 hours and I have only caught 1 over 4 and 2 over 3 pretty lame. how has it been for you and if your doing good what are you using. LilJakeC1 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I go up to Long Lake in Detroit Lakes a couple times over the summer. I have been up there once during mid June and caught a ton of bass on T-riggged worms hopped down steep dropoffs. The only bad thing about this lake is that there isn't much of any big fish but there definatly is numbers. I am heading back up in 2 weeks to try and get some more. Hopefully a huge cold front doesn't come in the day before I get up there like it did the 1st time. Quote
Cire Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 It has been going pretty well lately here in central MN. The beginning of the year started off like junk but the bite has been picking up. Almost all of my action has come off a t-rigged Reaction Innovations sweet beaver 4.20 or zoom bush hog pitched to cover, mostly docks with some pads and rushes mixed in. I have also been adding Megastrike which seems to be helping. A week ago, I caught a 5lb 3oz pitching the bush hog to a dock. I did start the year with jigs, spinners and cranks but now haven't thrown that since the t-rigged plastic bite is going so well. Eric Quote
kms399 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 how has the milfoil been for you on the lakes. I pretty much fish 1 lake all the time and this has been the worst year for weeds I have ever seen. most of my prime spots are choked out and I am having trouble finding new ones. I cant even catch fish on senko's. on another lake I fish near buffalo I can have a 20 fish day but of those 20 maybe 3 over 2 pounds, barely. Quote
LilJakeC1 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The weeds aren't bad at all. We don't have any weeds on top at Long Lake that are deep enough to hold fish. There is a good amount of submerged milfoil that has been the ticket for holding fish. The milfoil isn't too thick so when I see a stem of it I will pitch out there with a wacky rig and let it flutter to the bottem and then bring it back up and repeat. Quote
River Rat316 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Wish i could find the time to get out, I have fished twice so far, both on lakes I am not familiar with, both times I have done decent, nothing huge but good numbers, I did have one break me off on a wacky rigged stick bait that would have been a good one, it broke my heart to see her swim away like that, but she was just lip hooked so hopefully there was no damage done Quote
Cire Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 OK, now it has gotten pretty tough with this weather rolling through. I will not be able to go for a week or so, hopefully it stabilizes a little. Last Thursday my pitching bite went away, tried some cranking with nothing and then decided to throw some topwater at about 7:00pm and had some fun. Not crazy but steady action at least out of the pads. Later, Eric Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 This has been the best fishing years of my life. I am just been killing it with deep crankbaits, jigs, and frogs. Because of the heat we had an excessive amount of weeds growing up in about 0-10' so i have been forced to fish deeper, which has been a blessing. Already this year i have caught three 6lbers, previously i had only caught one. Quote
northern basser Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Wow Vinny, I'd say your having a good year so far! I've been getting out once or so a week in the Faribault area. Fishing has been OK. A lot of the lakes around here are really slimy to say the least. Been averaging 3-6 fish per outing. Nothing to write home about. I landed one 4lb bass and lost one a little bigger than that in the same outing. However, I just got a boat so I don't have to rely on friends for my outings. I plan on hitting the water more. The maiden voyage in the tub I just fixed up is this weds. Froggenstein and I are going fishing for the first time. Hopefully we'll have some good pics. Quote
Cire Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Vinny, what lake did you catch it on? Just for information, hopefully it isn't a lake I fish regularly because I haven't seen a 6+ lbs yet this year. It can't be me, I hope..... Cire Quote
