Super User firefightn15 Posted January 31, 2010 Super User Posted January 31, 2010 If your east of 94 you must pretty much be in the city limits. I'd be fun for everybody to get together for a day or two. Makes for good little mini vacation. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 1, 2010 Super User Posted February 1, 2010 Nope, I'm in Franksville. I could be 2,000 miles from home and I still tell people Franksville, rather than Racine, Mil-town, etc. ;D With all these dang yuppie subdivisions, it's beginning to feel like the city. I knew we were in trouble when the speed limit on our road went from 55 to 30. :'( Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 4, 2010 Super User Posted February 4, 2010 Koop, looks like it's gonna be Madison, better start layin' this puppy out! Quote

Koop Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 Well I think its best to wait until start of next month and see who is actually coming and then see where everyone wants to go. As besides maybe 6ish of us here, there have been a few more votes by people who haven't spoken up. However if we do end up on Madison Chain, we can start on Mendota and lock into Monona after lunch. Far be it for me to ask but I'm going to anyways; are the nude beaches open yet or did they shut them down? Not trying to sway anyone, just saying...... Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 5, 2010 Super User Posted February 5, 2010 I really hope I am able to make this trip. I also hope Madison wins, though I'll be happy anywhere. As a kid, the chain was pretty much where I learned to ice-fish. Another reason I want to go is to check-out Koop's Dobyns rods. I have never even held one, and am interested in purchasing a few; if I have a chance to see them before buying them, then all the better. 8-) Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 5, 2010 Super User Posted February 5, 2010 I've spent years driving past, through and around the Madison lakes and have never been able to fish them. i would look forward to it. Quote
Koop Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Well Madison Chain sounds good, less driving as well. Ken- we can always make a trip to buffalo at a different time like on a weekday. Quote

Was gonna ask you, what's up with Buffalo? Buffalo county, or is there a Buffalo Lake? I'm not familiar. Quote
Koop Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Buffalo lake, best top water lake I have ever fished. Quote

BLUESKY Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 let me know when & where, if not involved in a tourney at the time I'd be in! Quote
tipptruck1 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Koop I cant believe you forgot about some of wisconsons best under rated bass spots. The sturgeon bay shipping channel in door county is a great one. Just be careful fishing it. They have a 2 man 200 boat bass turny in the spring and fall. Also hayward is a great place. Way under rated because people that go there only fish for muskies. The same gos for the minocqua eagle river area lakes. Quote

The idea is to keep it local to southern Wisconsin, some of our Illinois friends will be migrating north for this and we want to keep the drive reasonable for everyone. 8-) I have heard tons about the Gile Flowage towards Ironwood, and am going to try a run that direction this summer for smallies, it should be a productive water. tipptruck1 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Ok I I guess that makes sense. I would love to head up north some time. But since I don't have a boat and cant fish the waters the right way. I can save time and money fishing the wi river from shore. If I could afford to go on your little local trip I would chose madison. I have heard nothing bad about them lakes. Quote

tipptruck1 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I was going to but backed out. I went to school over a boat. That was a mistake. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 tipptruck1, as long as you're around, tell me what you know about Chuck's landing. I'm thinking launch and go up stream? Quote
tipptruck1 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I great place to to fish. You might not catch monster smallies. But It is a fun place to fish. MY and a buddy would launch at chucks and burn the banks in the morning with spinners and jigs. Then around mid day the smallie bite would die off. So we would start chasing pike. the pike bite would die off and we start chasing smallies again in the evening. we would fish from chucks down to beans eddy. Its not hard to spend a day on that part of the river. I think there was a few days that we would get skunked. Not hard to catch 30 in pike. The bass are a few ponds. I have only caught maybe one or two under limit. But I have caught one weighting over 4.5 lbs. hers a pictures of the bass that seem like they avg. this size. let me add this this span of river can be fun to fish or not fun. What I mean by not fun are the snags. Theres days were you can go every cast and get a snag. You also have to watch the water. If you have two people in the boat your buddy is also watching for stuff in the water while on plane. When the water is ruff its hard to see logs in the water. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 That's (stumps/logs) what I was kinda wondering about. I'm out of Stratford but work in Kronenwetter. Thinking of finding my way around that area this summer. I drive by it all the time, why not? So does Chuck's landing have anything to do with Chuck Brod? Quote
