Koop Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Alrighty, tentative dates for this bad boy is June 5-6 (first weekend in June) on the Madison chain. Launch: We will stage at 5am and launch at 5:30 (If this is to early for those traveling please let me know and we can move it back an hour?) We will launch out of Olbrich Park (best launch closest to the east side/I-90 of Madison instead of having everyone drive downtown. It is also very close to the Tenne locks if we do lock into Mendota). Address: Olbrich Park 3527 Atwood Ave Madison WI Directions: From I-90 S or I-90 N To US-12 W/US-18 W/W BELTLINE HWY To US-51 N/STOUGHTON RD via EXIT 266. Take the CR-BB ramp toward COTTAGE GROVE RD. Turn RIGHT onto CR-BB W/COTTAGE GROVE RD Right onto ATWOOD AVE/MONONA DR. End:3527 ATWOOD AVE is on the LEFT. (Total of about 6 miles once you hit the Beltline) Lunch: We can either bring lunches, or lock into Mendota and eat at the Union Bay. Misc Info Lock Fee: $5 /day Olbrich Launch Fee: $8/day Expect water temps in the mid 60's We will start on Monona, if things are slow we can always take the Yahara river into Tenne park and lock into Mendota, or go south into Waubesa/Lower Mud Lake. I wouldn't recommend going any further south than lower mud as there are still a lot of boulders in the river going into Kegonsa and no channel markers... Unless you have those boulders marked on a GPS it could end up being a bad day. All this said I doubt we would need to go anywhere but Monona/Mendota unless someone has a real want to go into one of the southern bodies. Let me know how this will work for everyone If you plan on attending please PM me some info and I will start a list here. Please provide me with info if you will be bringing a boat or would like to attend as a non boater. (I will figure out non boater fees depending on who matches up with who and how far everyone is commuting.) Boaters: Co-Anglers: Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted January 27, 2010 Super User Posted January 27, 2010 It's a personal opinion, but if you guys would learn to fish with lures instead of Cheddar you would probably catch a lot more bass. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 27, 2010 Super User Posted January 27, 2010 It's a personal opinion, but if you guys would learn to fish with lures instead of Cheddar you would probably catch a lot more bass. I was wondering if someone would step up and coordinate this for Koop. When you going to have our web page ready for sign up Mike? I'll take care of banquet night. Cheese stuffed brats, cheesy potatos, cheddar soup, your choice of beverage and cheese cake for dessert. Quote

You've got it all wrong, we just use the cheddar to chum our spots ;D I'll take care of banquet night. Cheese stuffed brats, cheesy potatos, cheddar soup, your choice of beverage and cheese cake for dessert. And don't forget the Cheddar version of the bacon explosion (same recipe just add 2# of cheddar) The only thing it doesn't have is brat in it... ;D http://www.bbqaddicts.com/blog/recipes/bacon-explosion/ Quote
BLUESKY Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Hey Koop, I fish a lot in Wisconsin and would be interested if it doesn't fall on a tourny weekend. Keep us up to date on what you have in mind, the when and the where. Quote
Koop Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Figured I'd toss in a poll to see where everyone would like to fish. Please only vote if you are interested in attending Quote
Uncle Leo Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Koop being from Illinois I would like to get together. I always wanted to try the Madison Chain and will most likely do it this coming year. Also Geneva is close enough. If either of them places are an option let me know. Quote
Koop Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Yeah Leo, you CWB and all the rest of you FIBs are welcome to come along too Buffalo is about an hour north of me. Like I said if we do Madison Chain I can put people up in my house as I'm about 5-15 min to any body of water on the chain. Quote

I could pick Ken up on the way. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Koop, any place to get my line wet. Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Anyone be up for one this year? We could do Mississippi out of La Crosse or Geneva or Madison Chain... I could host a few overnight at my house if we did the Madison Chain. Otherwise we could always do my personal favorite lake, Buffalo (all top water frogging all day long) and if CWB invaded our gathering his heart may not be able to handle the beasts we pull outta that lake. Koop- My heart will be just fine! All day froggin has it racing right now though. Stay in touch bud. Maybe we'll get Brian off his butt. Maybe we'll hook more than the last trip. ;D If you put something together Me and Leo will work something out to get there. If we're FIB's are you FCLB's? Quote
Koop Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 I can not vouch for everyone but I am definitely a FCLB! lol There are about 6 Culvers on the way to Buffalo also, and one about 3 blocks from my house... I'm sure that doesn't influence your decision at all though CWB ;D Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Now you're talking! If Leo and I go together, no pancakes though. How far is it from where we were getting all the misses and Buffalo? Madison Chain is supposed to be good too. Weekend or weekday(s)? Quote
Koop Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 From the misses... um that was about 1.5 hour drive for me. So another roughly 45 min beyond that. Everyone could even come up the day prior and we could grill out and leave from here in the morning if Buffalo is where we want to go. Weekends are busier on some lakes on the chain then others, obviously depending on the weekend, not nearly as many pleasure boaters on Buffalo as the Madison chain during the weekends. Weekdays we would be good anywhere. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Koop, do you have any particular time that your thinking of? BTW, I don't know the inside skinny on the Culver's banter, but I know butter burgers are my favorite. 8-) Quote
Koop Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 CWB Loves it, and there are none to close to him in IL ;D As far as time.. maybe mid June? Gives us all time to recover from Pickwick and not to closer to the 4th of July.. Thoughts? Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Hey Brian- Let's make this happen. We tried all last year to get out and didn't. I'll make pancakes for breakast in the morning. I hear Leo loves them. BBQ the night before and maybe watch a Cubs or Brewers game. (Leo can watch the Sox in the garage) Starting to sound pretty good. Quote

Super User firefightn15 Posted January 29, 2010 Super User Posted January 29, 2010 What Leo, right away you want a premium beer? : Quote
Koop Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 In my house Brewers fans get the spotted cow and Leinenkugel's, cubs fans drink Milwaukee's Best and Sox fans drink O'Doul's. ;D ;D Quote
Uncle Leo Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 This is the reason I always carry a 75 lb pack loaded with Bass Ale wherever I go. Makes casting tough but who cares, I hate the Cubs. Quote

P.S. I hate the Sox ;D Quote
