txfisherman Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I am planning on being there, registered and ready, but awaiting to hear if and when my mother is going to have her heart surgery and may have to miss. Won't know until middle of next week. I was planning on either stay in my truck at one of the parks where I can plug up my boat each night or drive over from my lakehouse on T Bend, depending on the weather. Am planning on staying at this time down around the south end of the lake at this time. Will stay in touch. Dan Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 Dan, prayers and thoughts with you and your family. Quote

txfisherman Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Jack pm the information to me and if things will work out I may do just that, join you guys in Zavala. This is a way to meet and spend some time with others like our last outing on the Bend. I will be up on Rayburn next Friday and Saturday if the surgery holds off, then return to Houston to turn around and be back on Thursday night to pick up the boat and be on the water before first light Friday. I will post you on the plans as they go and when I know what they will be, once I hear from from the family in Baton Rouge. Dan Quote

Dan Dan, bernie said we would break out an air mattress if we had to, but you are welcome to stay with us at his home. five minutes from the Monterrey Park ramp and ten minutes from jackson hill, five minutes from cassel boykin ramp. He has a brand new set of lighted, locking boat stalls that we can park in and keep everything out of the weather. He has not even started leasing them yet, but they are ready to go. If push comes to shove, another friend closed on a lake house last week at Cassel Boykin park. I will have a set of keys on wednesday so we are good to go. jack Quote

Ranger 251 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Mike, You are absolutely correct. I have been posting on this site for only a few months. I was fortunate to meet Dan, Jack and Bass-Fanatic (sorry I can't remember the name) at the TB meet up. Great people all sharing the passion of fishing and always willing to give a helping hand. I look forward to meeting more of the Bass Resource members. Dan PM sent Paul Quote
SkeetyCCTX Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I like the concept of BigBass tournys and would like to see more like this in the future. They are good for two major reasons! First, and foremost; they cut down on bass death due to over stress from being kept in a cramped livewell all day. The hourly weigh=ins are great cause most of the fist weighed in do not have to spend so much time in human captivity! They can be caught, weighed in and released, all in the matter of an hour or two! Second, the hourly weigh in setup gives anglers of all skill levels lots of chances to cash some type of check! I dont know how the Splash is formatted, but I fish the BassChamps BB Bonanza at Choke Canyon and you can weigh in a fish every hour and win as long as you are in the top spots! You just cant have more than 3 fish in livewell at any given time and you can only weigh 1 an hour! I think it is a pretty sweet format, in which a lot of money is paid out, and very few fish die at the weigh-ins! Plus, the top prize always gets a nice boat, usually skeeter! Just my 2 pennies! Super User fishfordollars Posted April 10, 2010 Super User Posted April 10, 2010 I will be there. Plan on leaving from way up in IL. on monday. Not sure of name of place but i believe we are staying near harvey creek. This is my first trip there so if anyone can give me any helpful info i sure would appreciate it. Thanks I will be glad to help you. Do you have a map? FYI, find the mowed point with the fake deer on the south side of harvey. fish the ditch coming out just to the northwest and fish it well. It is very grassy but take tyhe time to learn it and you should get a big bite. Up to you if you can get it in the boat. don't bother with the sissy tackle. Beef it up. Quote
ilbassman67 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 thanks fishfordollars. we will definately try that area. yes, i do have a lake map Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Do you need a place to stay? The two guys from Virginia that stayed last year are due in tonight and have a place of their own. Let me know and i may be able to help you out. There would be no charge other than to pay your own food. I think i can swing a spot or two for someone else if they need it. Ya'll speak up now, let me know. Covered, locking stalls with electricity are on site and they are no charge also. Feel free to make a donation to cover the electricity usage, but it is certainly not required. Jack Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Dan, I just registrared and paid my entry fee. will be up thursday afternoon. If you have not signed up yet you can still do it online until noon today. After that it has to be done in person at the humphrey pavillion just east of the dam. Will be long lines, so just letting you know. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 15, 2010 Super User Posted April 15, 2010 Leaving out about 3:00 today. tournament starts in the morning. I will try to give a daily report on the weights each evening when I get to the lake house. If you are fishing watch out for the beginners and be safe. Always a few that get into problems so stop and help if you think they could be in trouble. Jack Quote
