Bass_Fanatic Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Alright so... Meet at 5 a.m. at Harborlight. $25 pot with $10 big bass Weigh in at 3:00...where? Winner take all?? Quote
txfisherman Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 OKay I need to finaalize my knowledge and may not have internet access after tonight, but I need to know the game plan. I know fishfordollars has some family issues he is dealing with and is out of pocket (somewhat) but plans to be at the meeting place Saturday morning, and if I understand correctly, we are to meet at Harborlight at 5 am, to meet, partner up, pay up, and then arrange for the meet location for weighin at 3. I will be driving over to the meet site from my place at the lake on the Louisiana side in Negreet with my boat. I will be in a Red Dodge Quad Cab Pickup pulling a Green Cajun dual console boat with Yamaha motor. So if you see me flag me down to get together at the meet up. I will have a cell phone on so if you need to reach me, call (832) 477-2635 Dan Pierce personal email, (which I receive on my Blackberry) piercedl910@comcast.net Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 25, 2010 Super User Posted March 25, 2010 I will be driving a gold ford 4 dr sport trac p.u. towing my wraped skeeter. My cell is 281 224-8853. FYI, nothing will keep me away. jack Quote
Ranger 251 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 My wife and I will be leaving tomorrow morning. I will be driving a grey Suburban towing a grey and dark blue Ranger with a Yamaha on the back. My cell is 337-278-4651. I will see all of you Saturday 5 AM at Harborlight. Quote
Corkpuller Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 found out today, we have company comin up tomorrow for the weekend, looks like I'll have to be crappie fishin. If something changes I'll hook up with y'all somehow, if not... hopefully there will be another time. Good fishin to you all. Quote

Super User fishfordollars Posted March 26, 2010 Super User Posted March 26, 2010 The hot lure the last week at Toledo has been the Baby Brushhog in watermellon/red if that will help any of the attendees. I probably shouldn't have told that, but I wanted to. Jack Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 26, 2010 Super User Posted March 26, 2010 Patience is the key; if y'all willing to try different techniques and lures to match the prevailing conditions y'all should find success. pre-spawn/spawn/post spawn bass typically are found in transition areas between different habitats, particularly around heavy cover. Y'all should concentrate your efforts in these areas, fishing with a variety of lures such as plastics, jigs, spinner baits, or crank baits. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 27, 2010 Super User Posted March 27, 2010 headed to Toledo, everyone have a good, safe weekend. Jack Quote
Ranger 251 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I made back safely from the Toledo Bend tournament and I hope all the other attendees made it back safely as well. The wind was up and fishing was down (for me anyway :'() but the wife and I had a great time. Only one bump in the trip--someone had a slumber party on the Saturday night with about 20 little girls in the one hotel room right above ours. It sounded like they had tumbling classes or cheerleading practice with all the racket going on. Several calls to the night clerk and one visit from the Security Guard did not do any good (so much for adult supervision) At least the hotel didn't charge us for last night. Didn't help us catch up on our sleep. It was great to meet some of the people from this forum. Great bunch of guys. Sorry some of you who had planned could not make it. Hopefully next time. I am ready for the next one. Paul Mouisset Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 well, I made it back saftly also. Like Paul and his wife Rena I did't get much sleep either. the fish could have been on a better bite to. We caught a few, got to meet new people, enjoyed our day on the water, what more can you ask for. We have all agreed at weighin to make this an annual afair. So if any more want to jump in for next year, you are invited. We will keep everyone informed as to the dates and time when it is decided. As for fishing i had four keepers with the largest being 4.04 pounds. Paul, Dan, and Rena, let me know what you would like to do. Bass-finantic, where were you and your partner? We waited until 3:30 for ya'll to show. If you leave early you need to make arangements to let us know you are safe. hope everything is ok, and we look forward to having ya'll back next year. Super User Catt Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 All of that is fine & dandy but we are dying to know who won? I think we should schedule one for later in the year so there will be less people on the lake & in the hotels. Quote

I got the lucky bite and had big bass. My four weighed 9.25 pounds. There were only seven fish weighed in. I'm all for another go at this later in the year. Be ok with me if we had this get together as a spring and fall thing. Anyone else up for a get together twice a year just let me know. I'm in. Jack Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 Given a choice I would rather fish summer patterns as opposed to pre-spawn/spawn Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 Given a choice I would rather fish summer patterns as opposed to pre-spawn/spawn X2, plus a lot less boats on the water. It was covered up Saturday and the wind was pretty rough. Would have been hard if you tried to sit and count the boats in a given cove. Quote
txfisherman Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I made the trip back to Southeast side of Houston safely, and ended up the remainder of the weekend doing my Honey-Dos for the wife. I enjoyed getting to meet all that showed up and look forward to meeting all again. We missed you Wesley and Catt. but understand how things come up. I am up for another get together. Had a blast and learned some more about this lake. Even though I have fished this lake but mostly the southern end of the lake, I found from the information and guidance from Jack, he helped produce some nice fish and I found someone that fishes a lot like I do. Maybe some partnering down the road may be in order. I had a blast catching the fish I did catch, and watch Jack pull his fish up helped me to relate to what the fish were doing Saturday. We were probably for the most part of the day paralleling each other, from time to time I was on one side of the grassline and Jack was on the other side, we took turns catching fish. My two fish I caught were caught on carolina rig Watermelon/Red Flake worm and Chrome/Blue Back/Orange belly rattle-trap over the grass. I agree with Jack, in the future, we need to have some better understanding by the participants, either it is established or understood, if participating in the event, someone must be notified if you are not going to show up for the weighin to ensure everyone is safe. Look for the chance to do this again. Dan Quote
Ranger 251 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Jack/Dan, Good to know you guys made it home safely. No honey do's for me on Sunday, after cleaning the boat I was flat tuckered out. Rena and I had a great time. We look forward to the next one. I really like the idea of having one later on in the year as well. Spring and Fall, great idea. It reminded me of the LOBI with all of the boats on the lake. Heck, if I would have known there would have been that many boats out there I would have left mine at home and walked from one to the other. This was the first and hopefully not the last. We learned a few things on this one and as time goes on it will only get better. Looking forward to meeting more of the members on this forum. Quote
