ring fry Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I could be wrong, but I think the posts about it coming from Fork and from Fork with a guide are probably just BS. Someone trying to stir the pot. Like it needs stirring. Quote
Bassnajr Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 This guys punishment is happening right now. Loose your reputation...loose EVERYTHING!!! But to first admit it then turn around and deny it? No sympathy for him now...... Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 27, 2009 Author Super User Posted October 27, 2009 I have read it on another site today, posted it on our BassCat owners board, read that is was on Georgia, Az, Cali, and few other forums. His appology was copied from his website. What he admitted to was bad judgement and not cheating. He could simplely say he caught a fish with mono in its throat, should have suspected something and or even mentioned it prior to weighing. I have heard a few confusing stories on the removal of the weight. One it had mono attatched and so on. I take those as specualtion, cause the BLT write up didn't go into details. Quote
Bassnajr Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Matt...if this is so...why take down his website etc.? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 27, 2009 Super User Posted October 27, 2009 It's called "Damage Control". He had posted an apology about it on his website before his mind kicked into gear Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 27, 2009 Author Super User Posted October 27, 2009 Why was his website shutdown after the initial appology? I think he read what was being said on a public forum, "isn't that an admission to guilt?" and "with that alone, can't he be taken to civil court to maybe seek some money he cheated to win?" OJ won a criminal trial, but lost the civil case. For a 150 dollars, you to can become Ochocinco and move on to another state unless someone recognizes him. Need national website with pictures of CONVICTED CHEATERS for Tournament Directors to monitor. I also don't remember if you can leave comments at his site. I have heard he's not taking calls either from friends. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 28, 2009 Super User Posted October 28, 2009 It's quite simple. Rose hired a Scum Sucking Bottom Feeder (Lawyer.) SSBFs are very good at twisting things around. I could rant on, but it would serve no purpose. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 28, 2009 Super User Posted October 28, 2009 I don't know this guy and I don't want to bash his whole life, but if he placed a weight in the fish that is just plain wrong and there is no excuse for it. As others have said, he ruined his reputation and any tournaments he has won in the past are now up for scrutiny. I'm sure this is devastating to his kids and family. Quote
Gomer Pyle Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Gods grace is sufficient for Rose...however...there are consequences for our actions. I pray for Gods peace and comfort for his family, they will surely need it..... Quote

Super User cart7t Posted October 29, 2009 Super User Posted October 29, 2009 Interesting. I wasn't aware of this guy before this but you guys can basically fill me in. He seems to have won a LOT of T's he entered, often fishing alone in TX tournaments yet when he stepped up to the big leagues, BASS, he stunk. http://proxy.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/media/angler?anglerId=4401&type=7 Really makes you wonder just how many times this guy cheated to win. > Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 29, 2009 Super User Posted October 29, 2009 Yeah, this whole situation is mind boggling. From what I've read about the guy over the past 2 days, he's been under the shadow of suspicion for a long time but had always either passed the poly's or nobody came forward with solid proof to bust him out. Have there been any charges filed against him yet? I guess thats the next move everybody is waiting to see. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 29, 2009 Author Super User Posted October 29, 2009 To me, BLT press release gave a very brief statement to allow the authorities to investigate. The right authorities I'd like to add. Police have enough street crime that a little ole fishing tournament might get some attention for day or two, but Texas Game Wardens, they'll turn ever possible stone over they can to get all the evidence they can before charges are filed. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 29, 2009 Super User Posted October 29, 2009 No charges as of this morning. It has been very quite, except over on the other forum. The post has almost 30,000 views and fixing to hit 1,100 post. It's amazing. Plenty of POd people including me that have been cheated(Allegedly) out of tournament winnings. It's not just the guy that finished second either. Think about the guy that finished say in 36th place, one spot out of a check. He then is responsible for cheating everyone that fell below him in the standings, from 2nd to the 36th position. I doubt they will actually do anything to him other than keeping him from fishing any more tournaments. If we all get lucky, maybe the DAs son or someone he knows real well lost out to this guy. That will probably be the only way it gets pushed up and prosecuted at a higher level. Jack Quote
Uncle Leo Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I have been following this for a bit and really find this sad. He just did not know what he has lost. I do not fish tournaments but would love to. Other factors in life just does not allow me the time to dedicate to this. It takes extreme dedication and sacrifice to do what you love and to throw it all away for greed is just beyond my comprehension. It is one thing to cheat fellow fisherman but to cheat his family who probably sacrificed much is just sad. I would hate to be in his shoes. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 29, 2009 Super User Posted October 29, 2009 It has yet to be determined if any of his family members were involved. He fished several of the tournaments in question with his brother in law and his wife. Personally I find it hard to believe that some of them would not know. It takes a lot to keep fish alive and in good health from day to day without having either a secure place or outside help. I certainly hope they were not involved, but you never know. Quote
BassBandit35 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Him on the left. His signature on other forum reads: "Robby Rose RobbyRose.com - Bass fishing tips, advice and more http://www.robbyrose.com Texas Nitro Team "Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," Like we really need a tip and advice from him : Quote
BassBandit35 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I was doing a bit of research. Mr. Rose fished solo most of the time in team tournaments and won bunch of em when went solo. Find it hard to believe! http://www.centraltexasonline.com/caba/mt6-14-08.htm He was one of the two that brought in limits out of 235 teams! http://www.123people.com/ext/frm?ti=person%20finder&search_term=robby%20rose&search_country=US&st=person%20finder&target_url=http%3A%2F%2Flrd.yahooapis.com%2F_ylc%3DX3oDMTVnMmk3azE2BF9TAzIwMjMxNTI3MDIEYXBwaWQDc1k3Wlo2clYzNEhSZm5ZdGVmcmkzRUx4VG5makpERG5QOWVKV1NGSkJHcTJ1V1dFa0xVdm5IYnNBeUNyVkd5Y2REVElUX2tlBGNsaWVudANib3NzBHNlcnZpY2UDQk9TUwRzbGsDdGl0bGUEc3JjcHZpZANDRFAzTUdLSWNybzhySFF4Rm1iOHdXVm1XODV4dkVyWlBJd0FBRjd2%2FSIG%3D12gbe2am0%2F**http%253A%2F%2Fwww.fishingworld.com%2FNews%2FRead.php%253FArtID%3D000019429%2526BID%3D000024113§ion=weblink&wrt_id=227 There are more but you get the picture. Unbelievable. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 30, 2009 Super User Posted October 30, 2009 The picture is that Bass Champs smelled a rat several years ago and started putting an observer with him. He quit the circuit after a couple of the tournaments with an observer. Oh, and by the way, he caught nothing but dinks while the observer was in the boat. Not too hard to figure this one out. Quote
ab8aac Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 We had a guy put fishing weights in a bass at the KYKX 105,000.00 tournament at lake o the pines a few years ago. The game wardens arrested him and before they took it to the grand jury for indictment, they knew where he had bought the weights, had a copy of the cash register tape from the computor, had a biologists report as to wheither the fish was even caught from the pines which it turned out it wasn't, a complete bank record of all his accounts, a record of every fishing tournament he had fished. When it went to court the following month he was charged with the cheating during a bass tournament and got 7-10 years in the pen. The jury recomended probated sentence since he was first timer and had a family and all, but guess what, in 90 days the Texas Rangers arrested him again for solicitation of murder he tried to hire a undercover Texas Ranger to kill his wife for the insurance money even gave the ranger the rifle and ammo to use. He got 5 years to do on that they then brought him back to Jefferson and the judge set aside the 7-10 years probated sentence and gave him 20 for the felony theft cheating in a bass tournament. Point being this guy is looking at some serious time in the pen. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 30, 2009 Super User Posted October 30, 2009 FYI, the fish(Mount) he used to cheat in that tournament was on display at Lake Ray Hubbard last weekend during the tournament that Robby is acused of cheating in. How's that for circumstance? Quote
ab8aac Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 NOW THAT IS FUNNY.....oh and one more thing about KYKX Coors was the major sponser that year, putting up the cash for the boat, the entertainment, etc. The guy who went to jail was a district salesman for COORS. So he also lost his job and after I transported him to jail, I had to go find his trailer and the impound wrecker came towed his truck and trailer to the weigh-in site and the game wardens then loaded up his boat and seized truck, boat and trailer. It sold at auction for less than 1/4 of what it was worth, sadly I couldn't even bid on it because I worked for the Sheriff's Office as an investigator. :'( Quote

Sometimes I wonder about our legal system. Quote
ValkyrieRider Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Actually, 5 for solicitation of murder, 20 for cheating in the tournament. 7-10 was originally the suspended sentence or probation.. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 3, 2009 Super User Posted November 3, 2009 Well, Well, Well, the cheating incident on Ray Hubbard made the NBC Channel 5 news this evening in Dallas. It's about time, even though they did not mention him by name. Word is Captain Gary Collins is in discussions with the D.A. Gary is a game warden and the commander of Texas Parks and Wildlife in the Dallas area. This is not good news for the person accused of the cheating. Now if they can indict and make the charges stick without a plea deal. Keeping my fingers crossed. Quote
