LloydTheFisher Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I live in St. Louis County. Near 270 & W. Florissant. I am looking for a fishing buddy. Does not have to have a boat, but it is a plus. I am a light drinker; I go to church-Christian. I play poker and lottery. Love to Fish! I do not smoke if you do it is OK and I will not preach to you. My fishing days are anytime Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun after 2:00pm-until dusk AND Tue, Thu & Sat Anytime 4am or so until Dusk I am married, I do not do drugs if you do that is your business. I do not have a boat. I fish for Crappie, Bluegill and would like to get into fishing for Bass. I try to use live bait and artificial lures; I really want to get good with artificial lures. I am an avid fisher, been out of fishing for awhile looking to start back now. I have 2- 8 pound poles and 1 feather light glass pole, I love open cast and spin rod. Let me know if you would like a fishing buddy, I am not prejudice and race is not important, just be safe and like to fish. We can talk a lot or I can be quite if you like. You can teach me and I am willing to learn more about fishing. If you are new I can teach you what I know and we can learn more together. So far I go to Busch Wildlife, and local lakes around St. Louis would like to try some of the bigger lakes and can help with fuel and I have a car, for weekends only or either fishing that ends by 6pm. Must be in St. Louis by 7:30pm daily Mon-Fri to pick up my wife. If I ride with you can help on fuel and extend my fishing day. I have a portable fish finder that can be used from the bank or a boat. Also I am a heavy set fellow, real heavy! GOD Bless! Quote

kelltech Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Hi, I'm new in the midwest, I moved here 6 months ago and although I see plenty of waterways everywhere I turn I have yet to catch a decent fish because I don't know where I am! My wife hooked a gar through the bill a few days back, funniest looking fish we've ever seen. I live in St. Louis and I am looking for places to fish and I have been many many places so far. Has anyone ever fished Simpson lake around Kirkwood/Fenton? Wondering what lurks there! Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 3, 2009 Super User Posted July 3, 2009 I fished Simpson last year a few times. That lake was completely flooded over in March of 2008 when the Meramec had it's super flood last spring. I'm not sure how the bass population took to that. I fished it a couple times last year after the flood with little success. It's basically 2 old quarries with a shallower connecting area between the 2. Most of the banks drop off very quickly into 14 + feet of water. I've had success in the past keying on areas that are shallower and flatter. Something to provide a feeding shelf. I've caught bass up to 4 lbs from the lake. It doesn't seem to have a large number of bass in it but the ones that are there are decent sized. The boat ramp on the west side of the lake sucks. It's very shallow even for aluminum boats and there's no courtesy dock to tie up to. That wouldn't be a problem but it is because the water around the ramp itself is very shallow and full of rocks. It's a good place to scatch up a fiberglass hull. Quote

AV_1611 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Franklin County here. Went to Busch the other day (07/04/09). Man that place is nasty. Trash in boats and on the ground. Not to toot our horn, but the fam spent some time picking up around the lake (33). Did catch a 2 pound LMB on a booyah buzz bait. Quote
