JiggaMan512 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I just wanna start off by saying that this is a BEAUTIFUL body of water, and a great scenic place to have your boat on. But does anybody know the LMB record for this lake? Any other info on Sheldon is appreciated.. Ive only been once but want to go back as soon as we get some freakin' RAIN!! Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted June 28, 2009 Super User Posted June 28, 2009 It gives up lots of double digit fish. Check your boat carefully if you put in there. It is full of Giant Salvinia. Quote

I actually got my chatterbait hooked around one of those lily pad stems, on 30lb. braid, and broke off. :-/ Quote

Might be able to walk on the pads.LOL. Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Check the Tx parks and wildlife website. they have just about lake record in TX. Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 Any other info on Sheldon is appreciated.. lake record LMB is 10.06 according to the page... sounds like most don't report the DD's out there. Super User fishfordollars Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 They certainly do not. The lake up until three years ago was closed to boat traffic form around mid October or November until around the 15th of April. Quote

I just looked at an aerial view of the lake... looks like a matt punching, frog throwing, veggie fest! ...lol Can you get a bass boat around in it, ok? It would be a hike for me, but for a once in a blue moon place to go fish the "junk" I might enjoy it. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 I can't get mine in. the ramp is very steep and breaks over sharply. It would hang up on my trailer. Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 Hmm... thanks for the warning, but do you mean it falls off steeply above water (as in hanging the front of the trailer) or the ramp drops out once under water? (hanging up on the springs/shackles) Once off the trailer, could you get around very well? Thanks Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 15, 2009 Super User Posted July 15, 2009 It breaks up out of the water. Not much of a ramp at all even though it's all concrete. Very steep also. That's the problem, just as the trailer clears the water the tow vehicle breaks over the top and instead of being level it breaks down toward the parking lot at a very steep angle. Very poor design. As far as running, you can get around pretty easy especially in a little smaller boat. Wish I had a 16 footer with a 90 on it. That would be ideal for getting around. If you get out there run northeast from the ramp or follow the dam back to the right and find the deeper water. It's very shallow except for the deeper area in the N.E. section. Quote
