I am going to go to Greers Ferry for the first time. I will probably launch out of Cove Creek. Any tips or advice fishing this lake?

Have not been up there in probably 3 or 4 weeks. However, i will be up there all next weekend to fish.

If i had to guess i would try to get an early moring topwater bite around main lake points and standing timber. As the day goes on i would try to find some offshore humps and fish those with cranks, jigs, and large plastic worms. You can always fish the bluffs with shakey head finesse worms and catch a few nice kentuckies.

With the cooler weather and rain i would not be suprised if there were a few bass cruising around the buck brush in the shallows.

good luck, let me know how you did.

Ok Finally made it to Greers, launched at the Dam site. Fished Peter Creek most of the day with a couple of hits but no takers. I fished acrossed from the Dam site marina and caught one smallie. The weather wasnt exactly as good as it was suppose to be. I was really impressed with how clear the water, really looking forward to fishing this lake more especially since I realized I am only 45 min away

There is some excellent scenery in Peter Creek, especially in the summertime.  That's the rumor at least.  Chase can probably vouch for me on that one.

Are you from Marvinville?  If your ever on the lake and some random boat comes up to you and ask you that question... Say yes and play along.

Greers has been hot the last couple of weeks. Tournaments have been weighing in 22-25lb sacks. I have been the last couple of weeks and have found some nice fish.

Right now they are on main lake points hitting pointers and X Raps. I caught a nice one last weekend and a bunch of decent ones all on the Xrap. Olive has been the best color for me. I am going this weekend and will be throwing the same but will mix in some ratltraps on those same points.

I was told by a tournament fisherman that knows the lake well to find points with bluffs that fade into pea gravel size rocks. He was dead on!! That is where the fish were hitting. Here is a nice Greers Ferry bass from last weekend. Good luck

Hawg, those are some really nice Greers bass. What part of the lake are you fishing? I have been up there the past two weekends and have primarily stayed on the North part of the lake. I am going to the Classic this weekend but will be back up the next weekend for a tournament.

Thanks,

I am fishing main lake points between points 12 and 14 on the north side of Sugar Loaf, Higdon Bay has produced some really nice 2.5-4lb fish on jerk baits, and a little bit by five fingers.

The only place i can catch them is on points with chunk rocks  and the wind has to be blowing into the bank. If I can find those conditions, I have been catching really nice bass. I haven't been on this size fish on Greers in 15 years. I am letting the jerkbait sit for 10-15 seconds before I jerk it again and they are hitting it dead still.

My buddy has been catching the same fish on Xr50 traps.

Yeah Peter creek has some scenery, there is a castle there. Marvinville got it.

Chase those are some nice fish, I dont think I will make to the lake this weekend, I have to put a new floor in the house, but hope fully next weekend.

Ill tell you if you promise to go fishing with me in the skeeter and show me how to catch them bigguns. Man you are pullin some nice fish outta the lake. It is for a little guy who is five and his last name is wooten. He had a brain tumor and they removed it. He is on chemotherapy. Poor little feller. I promise that me and my partner are going to donate any winnings back to the family. We both do pretty good in our businesses and wouldnt make a hill of beans if we had the money. I mean wouldnt affect our lives like it would this little guy. I could always use two grand but that is what we have decided. Leaving out of devils fork sat the 28th. $100 dollars a team.

Ha! Trust me that lake owns me. It is so dang tough to fish IMO. I have had a great Feb but no doubt it won't stay that way.

Im going to talk to my buddy and see if he can fish the tourny. I lost my dad to a rare brain tumor so I know how tough these situations are. However, there is nothing more heart breaking than a child with cancer. I would like to help out and will donate any money if Im lucky enough to win any!

Ill get back to y'all on this.

Man im sorry to hear that about your dad. It kills me to see a little guy suffering. I cant imagine if my little girls had to go through something like that. It would be hard on the whole family. Cancer is a horrible disease anyway. Have lost some really important people in my life to it. I want a lesson in lipless cranks. Btw my name is Clint. Later
