fvbaron Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Needing a game plan for Table Rock Lake - Bass and Crappie fishing, any suggestions? (Late April time frame) Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 Well the Bass should be pre spawn or spawning at that time! I have fished the Rock many times and this time of year the bassin is great. I would try fishing Baby Paca craws, Fin. worms, french frys on a split shot or on a c-rig, lizards on a t-rig, Brush hog, fluke's and don't forget that drop shot. I fish the Rock every year ( I evan bought land on the lake ) and two years ago I was fishing the Baby Paca Craw in green pumpkin in about 15 ft. of water, I had maybe the biggest bass of my life on, but not for long. She still is in the lake. :'( Quote
Super User cart7t Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 C-rigging finesse type worms or French Fries have worked best for me. If you're into that drop shotting, that also works. Depending on where you're at, the Smallmouth bite could be real good. I'd rather fish for them than the LM's. Quote
srv1990 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I only fish TRL once a year and never for crappie, but what the others have said for bass has worked for me. I do plan to give drop shotting a try this year, though. Also, last year the grub bite seemed to be on, 4" green pumpkin single tail on a ball jig head was the ticket. Of course, the water level last spring was VERY high, probably won't be that high this year. My trip is in mid-May, so needless to say I would be curious to know how you do in late April. Quote
peculiarmike Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Might think about crankbaits. Tight wobble. Wigglewart for example. Suspending stickbaits also. A round head jig, 1/8 or 3/16 oz or so, with a Shimano Hula Grub could work. Plus what all the others said. Bring your rain gear. Quote
TRYTOFISH Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 fish table rock at least 3 times a year. alwaysgo late march first week of april. mostly to crappie fish in spring. just got back from there last week. caught a few (small) lm. caught a few crappie 15' dp. i fish up the kings. had good sucess that time of year for lm 5-10 crankbaits just out of the buck brush. for crappie, dont follow the masses, go down stream to cedears off of deep water, its better to catch 20-30 11/2-2 1/2 lb crappie than 50 3/4 lb. i fish better than i type!
