I went this morning and had 10 nonkeepers(Lake is 16" minimum) and 10 keepers. Best 5 weighted 16.48 Largest was a 4.68, but I had another one at 4.61. Never stuck a large fish. Most were caught on a black buzzbait, 100 Sammy(Am. Shad), and a brown jig with a green pumpkin Gene Larew craw worm trailer. I fished riprap, hydrilla, and points up river. Water temps were 73-84, water stained.

TXbass1 called me and pm'd me last night to put me on the pattern and if you read this I never, ever went near the locations you told me. Your patterns were right on and I thank you for the info. He fared better yesterday than I did today. He told me his best five went over 18 lbs.

Sunday morning Stowaway tournament was won with over 27 lbs.

Saw several people fishing crankbaits and they were catching a lot of fish, just could not tell how large. So if anyone gets the chance to fish it the next several days or week, the bite is on. Put a trailer hook on the buzzbait. Every fish I caught was on the trailer. Not one bite on a frog though.

I may try to go again on Thursday or Friday. I want to see if I can get a bigger bite either in the grass or out on the river brushpiles. We'll see. Will keep you posted.

FYI, I never went near your locations. I would never, ever fish any spot you told me about.

FYI....I would never tell anyone a specific locale unless I expected/wanted them to give it a shot. You have offered to help me out on spots on Sam and I thought I would in the smallest way pay it forward. It will literally be weeks before I get the opportunity to go back to Conroe and I may/may not go back to that creek. It will be 4-5 months before I even think about fishing a tourney on Conroe and that pattern will be blown.....so go catch the BIG-UN's I missed. I know you are a C&R guy...so what difference does it make? I will tell you that the biggest one I caught (6#+) and the two bigger ones I missed were right on the bank. I mean right on the bank! If I were to go back there tomorrow...I would toss a frog literally onto the bank and bring it out slowly. I can also tell you they were only relating to the hydrilla and laydowns. I did not get a single thing from flipping vertical stumps...but got bit (or slammed at) on every laydown I targeted. Go get 'em Jack...if I was able to play hookie I would go with you.

If I was fishing for money I might(With your permission), otherwise I will find as many places like it and others that are producing and let you know. If we work it together we can keep each other on a few and if you want to try the Stow-a-way tournament one weekend let's go see if we can shag a little of their money. The fish are on the move. My deeper bites are beginning to be less and less reliable. Grass is the key and if I can locate several small patches that are not common knowledge I will let you know and we will keep them to ourselves. Good luck

My schedule gets better and better as we get later in the year....I would love to grab a lil' "hush money" with you some Sunday. I will give you a call in a week or so and we will try to coordinate a date. Take care.

Fished the Sunday Stow-a-way tourney three weeks ago and had one keeper. Overall results for the tourney were very weak. Had the best tourney bass fisherman I know fish a tourney there last weekend and weighed in two fish....granted one was a lil' over 8#. Feast or Famine as far as I am concerned. I can tell you the 8 came off a private boat dock in the Southern end on a jig. Sorry I can't be more help.

Red,

About 2 1/2 hours SE, mostly on Tx Hw6. If you decide to make the trip, let someone know and you will not have to drag a boat down. I go there as often as i can (which is not nearly as much as I'd like).

thanks. i dont have  a boat and that is a bit too far to drive for just some lowly bank fishin!!

One of the best things about this site..............you do have a boat available if you can just coordinate a date. My back seat is open more times than not when I go fishin. I am pretty booked with family obligations the remainder of this month, but could probably set something up the beginning of December if you like. They will probably be in a more reliable cold weather pattern by then anyway. More than likely a tougher bite, but at least I would have an idea where to look and what to chunk. (and if we found 'em they would more than likely be bunched up) Keep in touch if you are interested.

You will have a boat if you will give me a little advance notice. I'm about 45 minutes from the lake, so just let me know and we will set it up.

that would be sweet!!  i would totally be interested in something like that.  my wifes step dad has a boat, but he HATES LMB fishing, we always target whites and hybrids.  so for me, getting a chance to fish LMB from a boat, and on good LMB water, is rare.  i will be in touch, thanks!!

Will try to help you set up a trip. Catt and I are fishing one of my club tournaments this coming weekend on Toledo so it will probably have to be after the holidays. Just stay in touch and I will get on some fish after Jan. 1 and we will set it up. As far as gas goes, forget it. When we get together you just cover your gas getting here. The rest is on me.

Last Saturday a teenager was fishing a small crankbait in six feet of water and caught a bass weighing 13.07. It was donated to the Budweiser State Share-A-Lunker program in Athens Texas. He will receive a replica mount, jacket, and his picture on the wall of honor.

Lake Conroe is well known for producing fish of this size.

So much for the deep winter time fishing!

Ignition had a tourney there Saturday, 12/13. 32+# bag took first place with a 10.73 kicker. 29# and 26# took second and third place. Wouldn't that be a shame to weigh in an awesome 26+# bag and take $400 for third place? I mean, better than nothing...but I bet they were a lil' upset. I fished Conroe for four hours yesterday morning with that front moving in and caught three on a jig. Quick drop on a point from 12-19 ft. 4.25#, 3#, and 2.5#. Bite was barely detectable on all three and my hands were freezing, so it is safe to say I probably got bit more....just did not feel it. LOL. Good fishin' there to be sure

Cliff,

I have been wanting to fish this lake for some time. Maybe when I get back from Florida we can make a road trip?

Gas is cheap these days!!!

Let me know. I get back in January.
