Bass XL Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Hey everyone. My Junior Bassmaster Tournament at Mark Twain Lake was today...and it was tough. I placed second (read whole story here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1212964432/0 ) but it was brutal out there. The water is still pretty dirty, but there are some clear spots. I'll just sum everything up: Fish are very shallow. 95% of all the fish weighed in (adult and juniors) were caught in 2 foot deep water or less. Top lure choices are: Spinnerbaits (thrown as shallow as possible) Chatterbaits (" ") Buzzbaits (" ") Red Shad worms (" ") Crankbaits (thrown parallel to the bank and across shallow points) Average water temp was 75 degrees, altho we did find some spots that were 79 degrees. If you have a question or want to know where some good spots are, feel free to pm me. Quote
Bass XL Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 I forgot to add: Fish are still on their beds. Believe it or not, they are. We had multiple fish spewing out eggs at the weigh-in. Quote
harshman Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I'd believe they are still spawning. Of all the bass I have caught this year to date very few have had bloody tails. Sounds like they might be more in to the spawn that I thought. Congrats on the 2nd place finish. Harshman Quote
Bass XL Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 Thanks. Almost all of the big fish weighed in (adult tourney) had a bloody tail. One fish actually had almost no tail. It's crazy how they are spawning so late. Quote
harshman Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 That lake has been so jacked up this year it does not surprise me one bit. Harshman Quote
