w4svc Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Any Kansas anglers want to have a Kansas tournament? This would be a for fun event. This could be on any lake and any Saturday next year. Also open to all fishermen bank or boat. No entry fees no prizes just Bragging rights. Looks like we have a lake, Bone Creek and a date March 8th. Quote
TruflShufl Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 I could make an appearance depending on the time and the place. Quote
w4svc Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 Well looks like we have three interested kansas fishermen. I thought we would have more interest in this but oh well. Lets put our heads together and pick a lake and a weekend. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 well i guess since nuclear penguin said he would do it, that means i will too... plus we can use my boat or hopefully he gets something a lil better than mine by that time Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Heres a lake that is centrally located in KS. Very user friendly for boaters or bank fishing. Lots of cover and lots of catchable bass Lyon State Fishing Lake http://kdwp.state.ks.us/news/fishing/where_to_fish_in_kansas/fishing_locations_public_waters/region_5/lyon_state_fishing_lake Quote
ring fry Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I'd be up for it. Bone Creek, Big Hill, Hillsdale, Lone Star, Coffee Co. or La Cygne would be my choices but wherever I would try to make it. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 supposedly bone creek has gone down hill from what i have heard, i fished there for the youth qualifier their a couple years back and loved it... I like bulter county lake but i don't know if that is too far for some of you guys or not Quote
ring fry Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 supposedly bone creek has gone down hill from what i have heard, i fished there for the youth qualifier their a couple years back and loved it... I like bulter county lake but i don't know if that is too far for some of you guys or not I fished Bone Creek 8 - 10 times this summer and trust me, it has NOT gone downhill much. No, you can't go out and catch 30 or 40 twelve to fourteen inch bass, but you can get quite a few 16 to 18 inchers fairly regularly with an occasional 20+ incher. Butler Co. would be fine too, as well as Winfield Lake. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Bone creek sounds good then, i fish butler all the time. I need to expand my lakes, so i can get better at finding the spots and locating bass since butler is just an easy read. i've never fished winfield but that would be a far drive for the people up north. I'm game for anything to the east of wichita, and since nuclear penguin is in pittsburg i can pick him up if he doesn't have his boat by then. Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 OHHH!!!! the weather outside is frightful!!! I can't get this song out of my head, for some reason. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 8, 2007 Super User Posted December 8, 2007 id be up for a meet. i would rather the meet be on a bigger lake that didnt have HP restrictions or be a no-wake lake. melvern would be a good place to chase both large and smallies. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I don't have a very big boat, and melvern is pretty freakin big. i go to a no wake lake and still run full throttle, it needs to be be like bone creek, alot of good fishing but accessible without a 30 minute jog with atleast my boat Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 8, 2007 Super User Posted December 8, 2007 I would be up for it .... depending on what what schedule will be like. I think Bone Creek would be ideal. No HP restrictions, big enough with those with big boats and very fishable for those of us with small boats. Quote
pittbassfishing Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I was out on bone creek today. from bout 830 till 1200 and caught 3 14" bass. All on a lil craw soft plastic, in the creek. if it is raining that lake is relly good. Quote
codogs Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I'm interested. Any thoughts on when this might happen? I sold my truck about two months ago and probably won't buy a replacement until spring to tow my boat. Never fished bone creek, but it looks like a great lake for a for-fun tournament. Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Early Spring? As soon as the ice melts Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Early Spring? As soon as the ice melts Pshhhhh .... I was thinking maybe this weekend ;D ;D ;D Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I hear Ya KU! We can all meet up with George Welcome at the Stick Marsh in Florida Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I would like to keep this post active. it's very possible lots of guys are without power and unable to post or read mail >:(so if anyone is still interested vote for/ or suggest a location. After the first of the year we can zoom in on dates. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 is this lake a fishing only lake? is it no wake? Quote
pittbassfishing Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 It is a fishing lake only and it is 550 or so acres. you can run it only takes like 3 mins end to end with a 200 hp. I dont slow down throught the trees I just shut my eyes and go hard. Quote
Painter Dude Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 ABA division 128 runs at Bone Creek and I have read some good reports from there this past year. I have never been there myself. If we meet there does it have a shelter house or an area that we can do a cook-out? Quote
ring fry Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 No shelter houses at either ramp but fairly large parking lots. It doesn't matter a bit to me, but those driving Hummers and pulling new Tritons, you have to travel either 3 or 7 miles on gravel roads to get to a ramp Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Several years ago when i fished the you state qualifier there it was a very good lake. We ended up just bringing grills etc for the food, i think me and my dad slept in the back of the minivan so i don't remember what the camping was like out there. It was well worth the drive to find that boat ramp, I just remember how clear it was, atleast it was the clearest lake i had fished a tournament which isn't much considering we fish all mud bottom lakes. But i was throwing a spinnerbait across some weed beds and watching the bass come chasing my lure was amazing. Quote
