GAMEOVER Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Make me jealous. Lake Amistad what a wonderful lake, some huge fish in there. Just wow.. ive seen stuff on TV from there before but late night last night I saw some really crazy fish. Ish Monroe, KVD, etc Ish won it but wow at the 100 lb marks! You all are very lucky, take great care of a fishery like that. Quote
Smib Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Our secret is definitely out but it is a huge body of water and hopefully it will be able to stand up to the pressure it's getting. SMib Quote
jiangtao Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Texas fishing for me has been outright terrible! It seems that only if you have a boat, then you can catch fish. I don't have a boat so I walk the bank in pure utter disgust everyday wishing I was back in Alabama fishing the Coosa River. Quote

jiangtao Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I am in Longview Texas. Don't get me wrong. So far everyone out here has been great and very friendly. I also like the area I am in and I think that Longview is a great place to live, but not to fish. I have caught some good amount of fish out here and some nice sized ones too, but out of 3 months of fishing the good fishing constituted about 5-6 days of that time. The other days adds up to about 20-30 miles of driving to a location and nothing on the line. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 7, 2006 Super User Posted December 7, 2006 I haven't forgot about you, just alot of irons in the fire. We are only about an hour and half from each other and will hook up soon. Matt. Quote
L-Train Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I bought my boat in Longview about 3 months ago (I live in Texarkana). I just moved to Texas in August. I haven't made it to Lake Fork, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Texoma, Lewisville, and many others ...YET. So you texans that are familar with these lakes, i will be hitting you up in about 2 months. 8-). L-Train Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I go fishing everytime I get a chance. the only problem is in about a month my chances will be very limited until April 15th. Being an accountant and bass fishing don't go together too well. My busiest time of the year is also my favorite time to bass fish. Sundays are the only day i really get to go. I need to get my priorities straight 8-) and to answer you question... whenever you want. I will be sporting my lucky razorback hat though 8-) Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 15, 2006 Super User Posted December 15, 2006 L-Train, I'm a big McNutt fan. Read yesterday were parents went in to talk about their kids, the 3 Fr. from same High School, lack of playing time and they were under the impression that their sons would be involved in a pass oriented offense. 60 catches a season! If I was coach, and had a heisman canidate in my backfield, we would have done just what he did, run, run, run. Mcfadden was one of the top backs in college next to AD of OU. What lakes in your area are you familiar with? Matt. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 16, 2006 Super User Posted December 16, 2006 L-Train, So you just ignore the LSU fan and go straight to the Long Horns fan You forgot who holds the Golden Boot? Or you just aint interested in Toledo Bend? Quote
L-Train Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Sorry, I was at the game in Little Rock and it still hurts. McFadden takes one 80 yards up the gut for TD. We have momentum for about 2 seconds. Then the kickoff gets returned. LSU wins by 5. I am very interested in Toledo Bend. Quote

What lakes in your area are you familiar with? Matt. it has been a cluster you know what with the hogs and everything going on this week. i am on a hog message board quite a bit and some of the rumors were ridiculous. i am right with you, McFadden should run, run, and run. but if you are one dimensional, you will get stopped. The passing game is miserable. Millwood Lake is about the only lake around here that I somewhat know. I have fished Wright Patman, but prefer Millwood. I just moved down here about 3 - 4 months ago. i used to fish Lake Conway (AR) and the Arkansas River (Little Rock pool). Lake Conway is very underrated. it takes minimum 25 lbs to win a one day Saturday tournament on that lake (5 Fish). VERY Shallow and stumpy . if you don't know the lake, you can ruin a boat in a hurry. I can't wait to fish Lake Fork. i think it is only about an hour and half away. Do you have any other suggestions on lakes that are within two hours of texarkana? Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 16, 2006 Super User Posted December 16, 2006 Any time you and/or Matt want to fish the big pond let me know 8-) If I can't met y'all I can tell where to catch em year round I would like to fish Fork but at night Quote

Guest Texas_Bass_Pro Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Well, I'm just moved to Longview as well. I have lived in a town near Longview for about 17 years and am fairly familiar with the surrounding areas......Longview, Jefferson, Linden, Atlanta, Queen City, Texarkana, etc.... jiangtao----Send me a pm and I will take you fishing in some of the private ponds that I hit. I've only fished Neely Henry a couple times with little luck. I'm more accustomed to Weiss Lake. Any info you got on either lake would be awesome! Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted August 15, 2007 Super User Posted August 15, 2007 Pm's sent out. Any body want my back seat on fork this weekend? Nights? early or late? By the way, I took Tommy, aka the Catt, up on his offer in June to come fish Toledo Bend. Some others need to take him up on his offer. We did fish, we caught fish, and with Tommy's help, he gave me an area that earned me a $900.00 check that same week. Hookem Matt Quote
mattm Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Just found this thread. Don't come to this section a lot and when I do it is usually just to check Tom's reports. Since joining i've beed a little disappointed with the number of north Texans :'(. Glad to see some people so close. I'm in Weatherford, just west of Fort Worth, would love to meet you guys sometime. Super User Matt Fly Posted August 20, 2007 Super User Posted August 20, 2007 mattm, Do you ever get time to fish Fork? any others? Matt Quote
mattm Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Matt Fly, I'm in new home sales. Off on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fish as much as I can on those two days. Usually manage to get out both days. I managed to get to Fork once this year. I'm close enough that if I had a boat I would go a lot more. I grew up in a very small town. So I know quit a few people with large tanks that my fishing partner and I can take our small two man boat out on. We also recently discovered a 500-700 acre lake that almost nobody knows about that is perfect for our little boat. Quote
AnglerNFuego Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I miss you mother texas :'( Same here. I'm currently up in N. Virginia which doesn't even come close to Texas. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 Anyone plan on hitting Fork this fall, give me an PM, I'd love to meet some more Forum members and do some fishing. I have the Big Bass Splash in Sept. 14-16, and my schedule is fairly open after that. Lets fish!!!!! Matt Quote
