I am good (not great) with a baitcaster, and feel that due to pressure on my home lakes I need to make a switch. Rather than going to thinner mono I want to try something that is less visible to the fish and still strong. I've read about the many advantages of fluorocarbon and have finally decided to dabble again after a disastrous experiment with Yo Zuri Hybrid line a few years ago I tried the Hybrid line when I was new to using baitcasters so that probably led to some of my difficulties.

I am looking for some good fluorocarbon line for a fluoro newbie'. Something easy to work with, easy to cast. I don't care if I have to spend an extra few bucks since the line should last me most of the season - I don't get out as much as I'd like to

Any recommendations/advice?

You are going to get a ton of brand responses.  I went to BPS floro a few years ago and stayed there.  The 10 and 14lb on my Citicas and Curados casts well with no problems.  It is soft and limp and at least to me, handles like mono.

I suppose learning and getting down a baitcaster would be more beneficial at the moment then trying to buy good premium flouro. Seems like a waste if you keep re-filling your spool because your birdsnest is beyond saving.

But as far as flouro recommendations:

Sunline FC Sniper - Expensive

Bass Pro XPS Flouro - Good but on the cheaper side.

Yo-Zuri ultra soft is much more managable than standard Hybrid.

bang for buck its a real winner. If you need a cheaper one Trilene 100% is very decent for the money especially with KVD line & lure.

I've tried Vicious, 100%, InvisX, AbrasX and Tatsu at this point.

Tatsu is the clear winner but at a premium. 100% and as someone already said BPS XPS are cost effective and work pretty darn well.

I agree fully. I tried BPS, Invisx and after I used Yo Zuri on a trip, I quickly spooled ALL my rigs (spinning and casting) with it.

Its supple, I dont notice the memory and its never let me down during a fight.

I've pulled a hog out of limbs and moss with it to my buddies amazement. They swore I would lose a fish that day without braid. I cannot stand braid under any circumstances lol....just my 2 cents.

I posted the results of my testing over the last year or

so, last month. If cost is of little concern, Tatsu is the

clear winner. I thought Seaguar InvizX was good on spinning

gear; AbrazX on baitcasting tackle. I did not like Vanish,

P-Line CX, 100%, P-line Floroclear and Triple Fish.

I am going to continue fishing Yo-Zuri Hybrid and

recommend you give it a try.

Ha! Maybe since I tried it four or five years ago it was a problem with me and not the line.  Sounds like I'll give the ol' Yo Zuri another try.  Will also pick up the BPS brand next time I'm there.

Stren Fluorocast may be worth looking into, its an ok line but mainly the price is awesome. So use that maybe before spending your budget on 1 spool of line haha.

Yo-Zuri hybrid is amazing line, I love it and have never had any problems with it. Strong, sensitive and has very little memory, especially when used with KVD Line and Lure.

I really dislike P-Line CX and CXX, but that is just my opinion on those lines. I am starting out the season trying the new P-Line Voltage. Time will tell.

For fluorocarbon BPS brand is great for the price and tough as nails. SeaGuar InvizX and AbrazX are great and Tatsu is AMAZING!

I don't know if flouro is sensitive to moisture content or not, but nylon is.  If nylon mono is left outside, like in an unheated garage or other building) in the winter in northern states it gets brittle, hard, until the moisture content is restored.  That is why line trimmer line is supposed to be kept inside.  (If you forget, soak it in water in the spring).

Anyone know about flouro?  If it is like nylon, then some of the differences of opinion people are having could be actual differences in the properties of the lines caused by drying out.
