Spool on slower. More tension on line. Fixed it for me.

shimano ?

It's not a shimano problem. I frequently see in Abu's also. In fact, I've never really seen that problem with non-Pure Fishing style reels.

Sometimes the problem of uneven line starts at the moment you spooled the line, it was not tied right at the middle of the spool with the line guide right at the center. Next time you are out unspool the line and spool it again.

This happened to me once and I think it was because I was using my fingers to keep tension on the line right in front of the reel.  I took the line off and re-spooled it while keeping tension past the first guide.  Seemed to work.

i've seen it most on the old green curado.the line guide and pawl are the problem.

happens when you are filling the spool and:

1. putting too much pressure on the line plus

2. your cast control cap is turned too tight or too loose.

Too tight - tends to push the spool to the right for a righty and fills more on the left side of the spool and vice-versa on a loose cast control cap.

To correct this, this set the cast control cap tight enough just to keep the spool from woobling when filling the spool.

Unless you have a worn out worm gear or pawl.

It happens to all reels...it's not a brand thing.

::)

This!!! ^^^ Happens from Core 50 MGs to Abu Silver maxes at walmart!

What to do: Make sure your knot where you tied the line to the spool is in-line with the spool before you tie. Most of the time it clears it right up.... If not! Spool it to another reel and yen re-spool to your reel until it works.

it happens on my RC sig. series and PQ. i just tie the line to something walk out to pull the line off the then reel it back. always worsk for me that way

I've seen the same thing with all my reels and I have one or more from several different companies. I tried guiding the line with my finger but later noticed that the line evened out in a fishing application. So I don't let it concernme any more.

Only problem with that , your experience might not be the same as everyone elses.

Agreed, you're not the only person in the world that uses a Pflueger. I'm sure it's happened to a Pflueger before...

Unless you can say, "I can't make it happen on a Pflueger," it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a Pflueger and is more than likely related to how it's being done.  I know for certain that I can make it happen on a Pflueger because I've done it.  I typically put tension on the line with my fingers just in front of the reel.  If I bias the grip my fingers have on the line to one side or the other as I'm spooling, the line will spool heavier to the side that is favored regardless of the reel brand.  So, if you notice the line starting to spool a little heavier to one side, you can usually correct it by favoring the other side.  At least this my experience.

I have had this happen. I will try to explain without knowing the exact name of the part.

Anyways this seems to happen more when I use PP braid. The worm gear cover, I guess that's what you call it, where the line guide runs back and forth on, the chrome piece that covers the worm gear. On the ends where it meets the frame of the reel, seem to collect gunk. When that gunk gets thick it prevents the line guide from fully going all the way to the left or the right.

I use a pick to clean these areas. Not saying this is the only cause, but worth checking out. Takes only a few seconds to remove the gunk. Hope I explained that well enough. Not knowing the actual name of that part makes it a little hard to explain.

you can make it happen on any reel.what does that mean?NOTHING !!!i'm assuming it happens all the time to him on normal reeling.that would be a problem.i have seen this happen regularly on the older curados and it's usually the pawl assembly.that's the only reason i asked him if it was a shimano.

I see. I incorrectly assumed it was happening while spooling, for some reason. It didn't even cross my mind that it was happening all the time. :-[

Great info! Thanks guys! Just spooled up my first baitcaster this week. I wouldn't have thought of this.
