Kermit Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Many years ago, about 35, I had a small reel called an Ambassador 2500, as I remember. With it spooled with 6 pound Royal Bonnyl line, on a 6 ft light action pistol grip rod, I could easily put a 1/8 oz jig or inline spinner where I wanted. Does anyone make a baitcast reel today that is light line, light lure friendly. I have only tried a SHIMANO C-50, and it would backlash set up with 8# line. I cannot use a spnning reel because of physical conditions/arthritis and I keep wearing line grooves in the rotor of spincast reels. Any help/experience appreciated. Quote
RussBert Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Daiwa Sol works well for me. I have it spooled with #8 CX and use it for senko's and other light plastics, topwaters and small crankbaits Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted March 26, 2011 Super User Posted March 26, 2011 The BPS Prolite reel handles light line and throws light baits very well. I just fished one today with 6lb Yo-Zuri on a BPS 6' ml Crankin'Stick. The Prolite was discontinued in 2009 but is still occasionally found on eBay. The Prolite that I'm talking about is gold in color - not the special-run silver color reels that are currently showing up on eBay. Quote

I have a Ambassadeur 2500 and it's one of my favorites. I got mine as a combo with a light action pistol grip rod. Still have that rod around somewhere. Don't know why they quit making them, but you can still find them on eBay. Quote
hmongkidBee Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 if you have the money for it I would highly suggest a Daiwa Pixy reel. This is the ultimate lite line reel. I have mine spooled with 4lb berkley trilene 100% flourocarbon line. I don't have any problems with casting anylure period. Quote
