krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I would like to get a rod that is light and sensitive.I would like it to be a all around rod.I will using it for senko's jerkbaits crankbaits topwater.I dont want to spend no more than 150 to 190 bucks.I am thinking about buying a e21 micro carrot stix or the ducket micro magic.Right now I have a abu garcia Vendetta 7ft m rod and a quantum tour edition pt 7ft mh rod.It was made for carolina rig and slow rolling spinnerbaits. Its a decent rod but they dont sell em anymore that I know of.Any help would be great.I also was wondering should I get the Abu Garcia verdict rods.I think the extendable handle will be useful when I'm jerkbait fishing when I dont need the long handle. WanderLust Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Abu Garcia Verdict Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy Nice match for that reel... Tip is a little stiff for cranks but its a great all around rod. Quote
JacobK Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I really enjoyed my carrot stix! I never had any breakage or guide issues either. The only problem is I hate the orange. Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Yeah I hate orange rods and yellow rods lol.I could use my vendetta rod for crankbaits and the verdict for everything else.Hopefully my reel come in the mail tomorrow.Hopefully I can catch the ups man before I go to work.I dont want someone to know I got it.May get mad at me lol. When That reel comes I will have two revo premiers and a cardiff baitcasters.I may sale my cardiff we'll see. krisjack69 Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 I am also thinking about the micro skeet reese rods.Looking at the finesse worm rod I saw at walmart. Quote
DpDvr Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I just picked up a St Croix Avid 6'8" MXF to match up with a new premier. I have not fished the combo yet, but it feels really good. I intend on using it for topwater, small cranks and jerkbaits. Good luck choosing! Quote
WanderLust Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I have a St. Croix Avid AVC70MHF paired with a Curado... Deadly combo for me last year. My buddy has a Skeet Reese setup... very meh on it. Vendetta, Veritas and Verdict are appealing though. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 If it's micro guides you're interested in, I'd say take a look at the Quantum Smoke, very nice rod for the price...I just got one and really like it so far. I am a Carrot Stix fan so I'd say the new micro rod would be a good choice...I have three of the old golds and a new wild spinning rod...and I like the colors. Quote
Pantera61 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 The Verdict is a perfect match for the Premier. I have a Premier on the 7'6" MH Verdict casting rod. I'll also be picking up the 6'6" M casting for topwaters and shallow cranks. Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I have a Micro Magic 6' 9" MH paired with my Smoke, very very sweet and light. The rod is very sensitive and casts like a dream. SJ Quote
0119 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Every Reese rod Ive held was heavy as heck mostly in the tip. I think the Veritas is incredible for the price and lighter than many Loomis rods Ive had. The Bass Pro and local shops around here wont get the Verdict in so I cant compare it. Id say the Veritas is maybe the best rod value going right now. Quote
hookingem Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Check out some of the Shimano rods! Maybe a Compre 6'10 MHF. That would make for a versatile combo, and an added bonus would be the best warrant in the game! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 11, 2011 Super User Posted March 11, 2011 You might also consider a Savvy...the SS703C...7' MH. Might be a bit much for cranking. I don't have any personal experience with these rods...yet...but most people who do consider them to be one of the best for their price point. My next rod is going to be a Zillion 6'6" M XF. New it is above your price limit unless you have a friend like mine who is selling me one of his NWTs. Another versatile rod, but not sure how it will handle cranking with that XF tip, but I already have 3 rods of various lengths that can handle that chore. ;D I have handled (but not fished) a couple Veritas. Nice light rods, but I'm hesitant to buy one because of several reports of breakage. However, if it came down to push or shove, I'd take a chance on getting one of the good ones. Quote

You might want to file the Veritas breakage myth. it seems it boils down to a couple of people spreading it on many different forums. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 You might also want to try the Cabelas Prodigy Micro Rods which are on sale now for $79. I'll be picking one up this evening after taking a look at them last week. I went with the PDMC705-1 which is the 7' MH/F, 1/4-1oz. rated for 10-17 lbs line. I figured it would be very versatile and can't be it for the price. On the site it says its on backorder but they had plenty in store when I got a look at them. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fishing-Rods/Casting-Rods%7C/pc/104793480/c/104764680/sc/104823180/Cabelas-Prodigy174-Micro-Casting-Rods/1173648.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-fishing-rods-casting-rods%2F_%2FN-1102351%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104823180%3FWTz_l%3DPPC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104764680&WTz_l=PPC%3Bcat104793480%3Bcat104764680%3Bcat104823180 Quote
L a r r y Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I picked up another Premier, and paired it up with a 7 M Verdict. Let me tell you.......OOOOOOOHHHHHHH MYYYYYYY Those two are made for each other, exceptionally light for AG, colors match between the two (irrelevant to some) and they fish very very very well with each other.......I say go AG VERDICT in 7M Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 I am still looking for a rod.The two tackle shops in town dont carry verdict or veritas rods.I seen cumara and micro magic rods but only a flippin stick.I dont have a boat so I dont need a flippin stick and I dont know how to flip or pitch.I just cast. 0119 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Its nice to handle the rod before you buy but for bass tackle, tackle warehouse has such good shipping and variety to choose from. Still think for an all round rod a med. is better than med. hvy. especially if you want to throw crankbaits. If you use braid, even more so Id feel a med. is better. Im mostly shore bound myself and casting distance is often important. A typical med. hvy. rod wont have enough tip to throw most baits I want to throw. Quote

Some companies' Med. rods are a bit too wimpy and feel overloaded with anything heavier than a #6 hook, bobber, and a red wiggler. I don't want to point any fingers, but their name rhymes with Shimano. ;D Quote
0119 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Yeah but I think that is because they embrassed the technique specific crap. It makes a med into a med light does one job great nothing else well rod! Quote
Stasher1 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 The 6'6" MF Crucial spinning rod isn't marketed as a technique-specific rod, but it's noticeably overloaded with anything over 3/8 oz. Nice rod, but way too wimpy to be labeled a Med, imho. I throw most of my t-rigs, shaky heads, and some finesse jigs on medium rods. I save the MH for big worms (10"+), spinnerbaits, and 3/8 oz+ jigs. Quote
krisjack69 Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 I just wish there was a tackle store that had veritas and verdicts and cumaras to compare them. Its gonna be awhile probably before I will be able to aford a new rod right.I am going to have save up.20 dollars here and there since I work at wally world making about 300 bucks for two weeks of work but I love fishing. Quote
Loomis24 Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I have my premier paired with a 7' Verdict. They are right when they say those 2 were made for each other. Very light and sensitive. I would go Verdict even if you have to order online(that is what I had to do) Quote
