Super User ww2farmer Posted March 25, 2011 Super User Posted March 25, 2011 Try the 7' MH/Fast or the 7'6" MH/Mod fast Mojos. A MH St Croix, reguardless of the series (Mojo, Premier, Avid, LTB) is a very stout rod capable of any heavy cover fishing. A heavy powered St Croix is a pool stick......IMHO the worst choice for a bass rod in the whole St Croix line, at least here in the north east. Maybe in Cali., Texas, or Florida where you need the power to pull double digit bass from very very heavy cover on 65+ lb braided line, then I would buy one, but they really have no place in my NY bass arsenal. KC Bass Fanatic Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I have 3 Vendettas (went with these over Veritas because I found them on line for $47). I love them! No better rod for the money even at full price of $80. BTW the vendor that I got mine from is Midwest Hunters Outlet online store. The website is a major PITA but you can find them in Google shopping and link to it. Quote
0119 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 MediumHeavy is right about the quality control from Abu. I examined 6+ Veritas on the rack at Dicks before finding one that didnt have blemishes in the eva. All of them had black scuff marks on the white blanks. Im amazed at the Veritas lightness but you gotta use a magnifying glass. I have 2 Mojo's and they're heavy duty, heavy weight and well made but both were made in USA at the beginning of production. Sadly the cork rear grip is too short on the casting models. I cant get a good grip for a one handed cast. Quote

You buy one rod, and it comes with enough epoxy for two. ;D Quote
christine Cellino Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 My mojo spinning rod is rather heavy, or maybe it just isn't 'balanced' as well as the other rods in that price range. I don't own a Veritas, but my husband does and he likes it. The white color makes for a handsome rod, too. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I personally feel that the balance of the Mojo isn't nearly as bad as the sensitivity! I would expect more from St. Croix than that, honestly.... Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 4, 2011 Author Super User Posted April 4, 2011 I ended up going with a 7'6" veritas MH threw the new revo sx hs on it and 50# PP. The thing is so light and sensative I used it yesterday for the first time omg was it nice casts a mile if a fish farts on the lure i'll feel it its crazy. I sold my old O/U combo shotgun at the gun show this weekend and am gonna pick up a few more revos and veritas with the money from the gun. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I would choose the veritas.. the 7'6mh is definitely my next rod.. as soon as i sell my ***** reese flippin stick.. PS.. i wish my dicks carried abu garica rods.. the best rods they have there are st. croix.. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Super User Posted April 5, 2011 I got mine at Gander originaly a 6'6" MH then went to dicks and they had one and only one it so happend to be a 7'6" MH casting rod exactly what i was looking for so i explained to the guy in the lodge i just bought one at gander but really want the 7'6. He agreed that the 7'6" would be better and allowed me to do a even swap sense the price was the same. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 5, 2011 Super User Posted April 5, 2011 I got the 7-6 Veritas Flippin Stick on a whim about a week ago and remain quite impressed with the rod on the whole. It's a rod that is reasonably light yet has a lot of power to move fish. It has very fast recovery in terms of pitching; you could immediately set the hook on a fish after the bait hits the water. It's got just enough tip to pitch a light jig a decent distance and remain quite accurate. It's definitely not a Loomis or Dobyns, but it's not a bad stick at all. Quote

Super User eyedabassman Posted March 24, 2012 Super User Posted March 24, 2012 I have all 3 rods and the order you posted it is how I would rate them. The Mojo is heavy compared to the other two. Quote
Michael DiNardo Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I hate to do this, but does your Gander still have those "orange rods" on sale for $75? Mike Quote
