Abu Garcia SX vs. Shimano Curado 200e7 and a Rod

Ok I own 2 SXs and I love these reels but I'm in the mood for somthing different. I have heard SO many good things about the Curado and really want to try one for myself.

So the question is, has anyone owned and fished both? And should I keep adding to my SX arsenal or try this reel. And what technique is best for it?

Rod: I own a Vendetta, Veritas, and a Team Daiwa-V (I think). I had a Cumara but it broke, was not happy but Imma send it back and sell the new rod and use that money towards a new combo.

I need a new rod, I'm thinking about a Veritas cause I can get them for $53 BUT my dad has a Smoke and I LOVE it! Those are $83. I also want a Skeet Reese rod now or later and wanna try a Carrot Stix. As you can see I use cheaper rods but there fine. What should I do?

PS: If I love the Curado Enough I may replace all my reels to it.

Iv'e owned and fished both. They are both great reels, but I have to give it to my Curado's. The things are little tanks! You wont go wrong with either but IMO I like my Shimano's better. As far as applications the Curado comes in varying gear ratios from the e5, 50e, e7 which all are used for different applications. Never had any expierence with the Abu Rod line but I sure do like the feel of the Veritas.

I have fished both but I own (2) Curados. Shortly I'll own (2) Revos (STX / Winch).

Abu is really smooth and performs great. Curado is simple, efficient and if maintained will last a long, long time.

If we're talking 200 E7 then its a superb bottom contact reel but I've used mine for just about everything from weightless plastics, jig, frogs, topwater, traps, spinners, cranks... you name it.

Veritas is a great rod for that price as well. Highly advise it. I like the 7' MH Fast.

I have both and I prefer a Revo over anything I have tried.  I do not like the way the Curado fits in my hand.  Out of the box, the Curado will cast lighter lures better, but I have supertuned (just polished surfaces) and now the Revo is hands down better.  Shimanos have more parts in the inside, while the Revo is simple and to the point. You just can't beat the toughness of the Revo.  Plus it helps that I can get a pretty good discount on them too.

I've owned and fished both.  They are both good reels,  but I would give the edge to the curado.  The curado palms easier and has a more "worry free" braking system.

You are so right, SX's cast AMAZING but there finicky.... I have used different Shimanos and you almost cannot backlash them.

I think I will try this reel, And I already own a 7 ft H XF Veritas as a pitching stick or jig rod and think I wanna try somthing new. I have never owned a Carrot Stix so I wanna try out the Wild, has anyone used this rod? I'm also looking at the Skeet Reese rod.

I have a '10 SX and 5 Curados Es. I prefer the Curado, it casts a bit easier and the SX mag brakes are just a little to finicky.  The SX is probably one of the smoothest reels I have ever felt and Shimano sure isn't gonna win any awards in that department. Both are good reels though.

I know you wanted replies from people who have experiences with both reels, but I only have an SX and I love it. It casts great, is light weight, and for me is very comfortable in my hand. I would rather have all my reels the same as well and sticking with all SX's will be much cheaper.

I own both (revo is an 09') and I'd say curado hands down. Honestly I wasnt impressed out of the box, but after cleaning/tuning those 1 piece spool shaft shimanos are amazing.

The ergonomics are big for me as well. After years of throwing spooks/ sammys my fore arms and wrist appreciate the weight you save with the E7. I pretty much just use the revo for cranks or other tip down presentations.

I have fished both of these reels and I prefer the Curado at that price point.  Now if your talking about the STX that is a whole different story...

I've owned both the Curado's and the Revo's, just sold my SX so I could buy another Curado  .

I have 3 Revos and 11 Curados now, 7 are E series. The Revos are nice but they're no Curado. For the rods, I'm a St. Croix fan so get a mojo or Avid.

To me, having fished both, they are so close it's too close to call and really comes down to personal preference.  I prefer the SX.

The STX is the same price point as the Curado not the SX. The new SX can be had for $140 on line with cheap/free shipping. The Curados almost NEVER can be found for <$190. If you can get an SX for $60 less than the Curado and it's a comparable reel...... just sayin....

I have the Revo Inshore and the Curado E5. The Curado can cast better and can handle lighter lures. I now use the revo for reloading braid lines between reels.
