I know yall probably get tired of answering questions like this , but I promise I've searched the forums and articles and can't quite find my complete answer.

I've got 7 different reels in 3 different ratio "ranges" . I'm trying to get everything set up sort of technique specific. I'm trying to find out which ratios paired with which lines are best suited for which applications. Specifically , worm/soft plastic , spinnerbait , flipping/pitching , lipless and shallow crank , med and deep crank .

Ratios I have to play with are : 7.1:1 , 6.3:1 , 6.2:1 , 6.2:1 , 5.0:1 (deep spool) , 5.0:1 , 5.1:1.

Generally , on the boat , I like to have 2 plastics rods , 1 spinnerbait , 2 crankbait (1 shallow , 1 deep) , a jig/pig , and a multi purpose.

If you could , tell me how you think I should have this set up (please include the line) . Thank yall so much in advance.

IPT (Inches Per Turn) is a truer gauge of the reels rate of line return and is a function of ratio and spool size. If you don't know this spec on each reel, you might want to measure it. In general:

7.1:1 - Jigs, flipping and pitching

6.X:1 - plastics in more open water, spinner bait, general use

5.X:1 - deep cranks for sure and shallow & Med cranks just because you have them.

I'm going with backing and braid on all my reels with leaders when abrasion and super clear water are concerns.

Plastics: 7.1:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb line.

Plastics (again): 6.3:1, 7' M rod - 12lb line.

Spinnerbait: 6.2:1, 7' MH rod - 17lb line.

Crankbaits (Shallow): 5.0:1, 6' 6" or 7' M rod, 12lb line.

Crankbaits (deep): 5.0:1 (deep spool), 7' MH rod, 14lb line.

Jig: 6.2:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb or 17lb line.

Multi-Purpose: 5.0:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb line.

It would have been better if you had one less slow reel. Is the multi-purpose going to be used a lot or just a back-up? It's going to be a little slow to throw anything but Cranks, Jigs, & Plastics...

I sort of classify lipless in the "shallow" category , not because I only fish them shallow , but because I didn't want to get too "technique specific" with my question.

This is what I have set up now:

Jigs/Plastics - 6.x:1, 6'9"MH, 15lb fluoro or braid depending on water clarity and what I'm throwing into

Spinnerbaits - 6.x:1, 6'9"MH, 15-20lb fluoro

Shallow/Med cranks - 6.x:1, 6'9"MH, 10-15lb fluoro

Deep cranks - 5.x:1, 7'M, 10-15lb mono

Flipping/Pitching - 7.x:1, 7'H, 50lb braid

For a multi-purpose - you can do just about anything with a 6.x:1 reel, 6'6" to 7" MH rod, and 12-15lb fluoro
