John G Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 New reel came in today Pretty similar to the Curado I. It's lighter and narrower but longer. I'm definitely a fan of the longer handle. Out of the box feels about as smooth as the Curado, should loosen up when I throw some line on it and catch some fish Have it on an E6X for now: Bought it from Japan Lure Shop. Not bad for $260! Also thought it was nice they through in a Fuji lure keeper as a "gift", which is perfect because I'm buying a Megabass rod for it. Did you buy the Megabass rod from JLS? All they have ever given me is stickers. Stickers are cool but a hook keeper is cooler. Quote

Ya only promotional items I've ever gotten have been stickers, I thought the hook keeper was awesome! 1 Quote

Joe H. Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Wow sweet reel!! I'm gonna get one soon Thanks! You'll enjoy it. I spooled mine with some 10 lb big game today, 1/4 ounce weight, berkley craw fatty. Set 4 brakes off 2 on. Someone on this forum mentioned casting this reel with no thumbing, it's true! Once I got it dialed in I was getting 30-35 yds distance no thumbing even at the end! Can't wait to see what it'll do with a 3/4 ounce rattletrap. 1 Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted July 7, 2015 Super User Posted July 7, 2015 On a Daiwa catalog, lol. I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the 2 reels side by side. How similar are they really? Quote
bootytrain Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 On a Daiwa catalog, lol. I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the 2 reels side by side. How similar are they really? Ill be honest the Citica feels smoother because the knobs are more secure(no in and out play) and of course its brand new. In hand the Curado feels a fraction lighter. The Curado dragstar is anodized while the Citica looks to be painted(I could be wrong). The spools are almost identical in weight (16.5 grams vs 16.4 in the Curado) In the previous generations the spool weights were at least a gram apart which gave the Curado the edge in lighter weight lures. I do prefer the Curados color scheme though. If you are at BPS and had these 2 side by side IMO the Curado definitely looks nicer. 1 Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Very nice custom stick. I like your handle choice, very clean build. Congrats. Quote

I.rar Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 How do you feel about the differences between the Citica and curado? Worth the price? I'm really considering one but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to try a reel with something other than the Vbs brakes. Quote

I'm really considering one but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to try a reel with something other than the Vbs brakes. I haven't fished the citica yet but the spool weights are nearly identical so casting should be virtually the same and if that's the case then yes it would be worth the money. Give the new svs infinty brakes a try, they are definitely a step up from vbs. Quote

bootytrain Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 OK thanks. Could you tell me how long the reel foot is or if it any larger than the e series? the only e series I have left is a Curado 50 Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted July 10, 2015 Super User Posted July 10, 2015 OK thanks. Could you tell me how long the reel foot is or if it any larger than the e series? FWIW - The reel foot on a Curado I (well, the JDM Scorpion version) measures approx. 2.45" in length which is the same length as the foot on a Curado 200E7. Assuming the new Citica is on the same frame as a Curado I, then it would seem to be all samey-samey.... Quote
I.rar Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Ah, OK. Thanks guys. I was hoping this would fit in my fenwicks odd sized real seat but my 201 and 51e curados had enough room in there to wiggle around. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 10, 2015 Super User Posted July 10, 2015 I.rar - I probably have the reels you are wanting measured. Which ones would you like to know the info on? Jeff Quote
