New reel came in today :Dimage_zpsityhysl1.jpg Pretty similar to the Curado I. It's lighter and narrower but longer. I'm definitely a fan of the longer handle. Out of the box feels about as smooth as the Curado, should loosen up when I throw some line on it and catch some fish ;)image_zpsshg0dw2k.jpg

Have it on an E6X for now: image_zps9vbkymc1.jpgimage_zpsatrfuanf.jpgimage_zps0vlahhso.jpgimage_zpsoydtgnsa.jpgimage_zps9zfxf9dz.jpgimage_zpswlyldg2b.jpg Bought it from Japan Lure Shop. Not bad for $260! Also thought it was nice they through in a Fuji lure keeper as a "gift", which is perfect because I'm buying a Megabass rod for it.

Did you buy the Megabass rod from JLS? All they have ever given me is stickers. Stickers are cool but a hook keeper is cooler.

No, rod is from TW. Ya only promotional items I've ever gotten have been stickers, I thought the hook keeper was awesome!

Thanks! You'll enjoy it. I spooled mine with some 10 lb big game today, 1/4 ounce weight, berkley craw fatty. Set 4 brakes off 2 on. Someone on this forum mentioned casting this reel with no thumbing, it's true! Once I got it dialed in I was getting 30-35 yds distance no thumbing even at the end! Can't wait to see what it'll do with a 3/4 ounce rattletrap. ;)

On a Daiwa catalog, lol.  I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the 2 reels side by side.  How similar are they really?

Ill be honest the Citica feels smoother because the knobs are more secure(no in and out play) and of course its brand new. In hand the Curado feels a fraction lighter. The Curado dragstar is anodized while the Citica looks to be painted(I could be wrong). The spools are almost identical in weight (16.5 grams vs 16.4 in the Curado) In the previous generations the spool weights were at least a gram apart which gave the Curado the edge in lighter weight lures. I do prefer the Curados color scheme though. If you are at BPS and had these 2 side by side IMO the Curado definitely looks nicer.

How do you feel about the differences between the Citica and curado? Worth the price? I'm really considering one but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to try a reel with something other than the Vbs brakes.

I haven't fished the citica yet but the spool weights are nearly identical so casting should be virtually the same and if that's the case then yes it would be worth the money. Give the new svs infinty brakes a try, they are definitely a step up from vbs.

OK thanks. Could you tell me how long the reel foot is or if it any larger than the e series?

FWIW - The reel foot on a Curado I (well, the JDM Scorpion version) measures approx. 2.45" in length which is the same length as the foot on a Curado 200E7.  Assuming the new Citica is on the same frame as a Curado I, then it would seem to be all samey-samey....

Ah, OK. Thanks guys. I was hoping this would fit in my fenwicks odd sized real seat but my 201 and 51e curados had enough room in there to wiggle around.

I.rar - I probably have the reels you are wanting measured.  Which ones would you like to know the info on?
