Nice! The reel is on a serious diet. At 4.76 ounces it is incredible! Nice job Matt!

Really awesome reel!! I've always loved the BFS. To get it under 5oz is incredible, I still think my core is a featherweight but that takes it to a whole new level. Post you final combo with rod and line when you get it set I'd like to see it. I may be in the market for an ultra light BC for small baits some time soon and I'm looking for ideas.

Wow that BFS is silly awesome.  How do you like the small hard ZPI knobs?  Comfy?

Thanks, the knobs are pretty cool, there a bit lighter then the septons. Being aluminum, sorta feels a little more connected with the reel...

Well I traded my Chronarch Ci4 for a Core 50MG7. I have not fished it yet but I must say that this reel just fits my hands so well. It's so small and light. Now I just have to decide if I want to use it on my jig rod instead of my Metanium.. I am officially a Shimano junky.

You are a smart man! I think the little 50 size Shimano's make great top water reels because of how well they palm.

Oh yea, I am a right crank guy mostly, but I have 2 Curado 51E's that are leftys,, man I can flat work a topwater sooooo much easier and just more proficient . Shoot I even throw smaller cranks with it now, I like the 50/51 real well. The curado I is close, but not quite.... But real close! Now I need a JDM model!

A great place to get the Scorpion XT1000 is Japan Lure Shop .com. I have bought several reels from them and everything went fine and they are cheaper than Japan Tackle. If you like the CU50E, you will love the XT1000.

I was wrong about the website address. Just Google Japan Lure Shop and they will come up.

Thanks to the advice of Maico 1, I have my XT1000 mounted on a Loomis Bronzeback Topwater Rod.

The scorpion is one of the only jdm shimano reels i havent owned yet. Ive always been curious if under the cast control cap if its like a core where its just a spool bearing and a clip. Or if its like the curado with a spool bearing and spring. Im guessing its like the curado cause its the jdm version of it, but i could be wrong...
