Maico1 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I was thinking the same thing. I like the ergonomics and the finish- they look very comfortable. I looked around for a while yesterday and couldn't find them... Booty where did you get these? http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/getfish/item/dress_ld_op112/ 1 Quote

Tim S. Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 After some major indecisiveness on my part, I finally picked up my 2 rods this morning. I already broke them in at a little pond by the house, too. The red-trimmed one is built on a new Shikari blank(yes, new-but old-stock from a secret source ) It is 6'11 and is medium-hvy. power with a nice parabolic bend. It casts a 1/8 oz. Bitsy Bug with a plastic trailer well, but also will blast a 5/8 oz. squarebill with authority. It has Fuji Alconite microguides, an ECS reel seat with black hood and a Fuji weighted counterbalance butt. The cork grips are 2-tone and made by Batson, which look very nice, I think. The second is a Batson 7' RX-7 popping blank, model IP 843. A friend bought my spinning version of this rod and I kind of missed it, so I had one built for a casting reel It has Fuji Alconite microguides with a Fuji ACS reel seat and a Fuji weighted counterbalance butt. Silver aluminum winding checks make it look really nice, too. This rod casts a #11 Rapala floater so well that I actually got it hung up in a tree on the first cast (but the reel might have had something to do with that, too). It casts light stuff phenomenally, which is exactly what I wanted it for-yet it handled a 3/8 oz. spinnerbait well also. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy, because I'm certain that I will! 3 Quote

DelcoSol Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Well, I got to break in my DX744/Metanium combo with some jig fishing this weekend and I must say that I really love the rod. The reel however, I am not too sure on. It performed perfectly but it just feels a little bulky in my hand. After a long day my hand felt tired and cramped from holding it. I am wondering if I sould have gone with a Core.. I feel like if I sell it and get a Core I am moving backwards in reel technology. I lose the 8:1, the X ship, and the Micro Gearing. Anyone else have a Core and Metanium? If so how would you compare the two? 2 Quote

TheCodFather Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My Shimano Collection.... I'm fairly new to baitcasters. How much do bad boys like those run? I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't really have the budget for the really expensive rigs but then again I don't want to spend $100 on some rod and reel that is going to be a waist of my time. 2 Quote

Anyone else have a Core and Metanium? If so how would you compare the two? Well i have huge hands and didnt like the size of the new chronarch, which is pretty much the same as the metanium. I use the shimano 50 size reels for everything. Feels so much better in hand. I dont think your moving back in tech, a core or aldebaran will suit your needs fine. Quote
