Greeneye8181 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I'm a fan of the T3's! I have two. They are probably my favorite reel at the moment. How's the T3 Air is my question! Thinking about buying one but before I shell out that kind of money I need to hear they are that much better than the 1016W... please elaborate nycgrip Quote
nycgrip Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 using it with light line, and lures it works beautifully, but does not perform as well with lures over 10g, or heavier line. use it for the techniques its meant for and you'll love it. Quote
Greeneye8181 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I see....so you prefer the Air over the 1016 when it comes to lightweight stuff? As far as pitching/flipping you would stick with the 1016? Yeah its an awesome looking reel and I think I'm going to go ahead and buy one. Why did you replace the knobs? The originals look cool. Quote
nycgrip Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 The 1016 or sv spool will be better for pitching. I switched to 90mm handles and they didn't look right with the silver axels showing through the knob, so I put my red knobs on cause it looked better, original knobs where fine otherwise. FYI where the spools of the t3(1016) and t3sv (1000sv) are interchangeable, the t3air spool is not compatable with other reels. Quote
Greeneye8181 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks for the info. The 1000sv is the JDM version correct? How does that one stack up against the 1016? Quote
buzzfrog Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 nothing like yalls but few of my babies, Custom 7'2 HXF frog rod, smoke 150, chronarch e7 with 7'3 *** for T rigging 6'8 sellus for topwater hardbaits, quatium tour, h20 inshore with revo stx. Not whole collection 1 Quote
MK-9 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Still new to the baitcasting thing and 2 of my old spinners are being used by a few cousins. Was hoping to 'plant the seed' so they get into fishing. Anyway, I don't have crazy spendy gear or much of it. Top one is a Lew's Tournament MG (7.1:1) on a St. Croix Rage (6'8" MH) - Brand new. Haven't had it out yet. 2nd one is is an Abu Garcia Revo SX (6.4:1) on a Garcia Veritas (7'0" MH) Spinning setup is a Abu Garcia Soron on a Garcia Vendetta (7'0" M) Once I get more comfortable on the baitcasters I'd like to add another. Maybe BPS Pro Qualifier on a Fenwick HMG eventually. Quote
Greeneye8181 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Those Abu rods look nice. Good rods in this day and age can be had for 100 bucks. A 100 dollar rod today equals a top of the line rod 10 years ago maybe better! 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 My 1000 ci4+ was on the doorstep when i got home from work today. Pretty sweet reel, feels exactly like my sustain fg, just a 1/2 oz lighter. Mounted on a 6'5 cumulus. Going to the shore to surf fish for the weekend, wont have a review till sunday night/monday... 4 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 9, 2013 Super User Posted August 9, 2013 I am digg'n the new rig "thehooligan"! It looks sharp. With your experience with some of Shimanos nicer spinning reels, I would like to hear your thoughts on how the reel fishes compared to the previous generation CI4. 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 First thing I noticed is how solid the rapid drag is. Very smooth with the x-ship. Only 5.8oz's. Really feels like a lighter version of my sustain fg... Quote
Maico1 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Sweet looking combo you have got there...... 1 Quote

Kanonball92 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Is there something I'm doing wrong that my pic will not show up ? Quote
Curtis B. Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Just got back into fishing after a 2-3 year hiatus. Brought this home from Bass Pro with me yesterday along with some other tackle I had run out of this past week. Shimano Sahara 3000 FE on a 7' BPS Tourney Special rod. Not as high dollar as some people have but I am excited to try it out hopefully later this week. Quote
Mitch G. Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Here's SOME of my stuff....All Quantum reels(PTi Energy,Tour Editions, and Smoke) and St Croix Rods(Avids,Legend Elite,Legend Tournament) and SOME(and I use that term very loosely) tackle....this does not include all the stuff packed away that is still brand new in the packages..... 2 Quote

I'm itching to get it out. I did get an amazingly sweet deal and got a new in the box BPS Pro Qualifier Tourney for $27 on eVilbay though. Then I was at Gander Mtn today. They had a closeout sale ($20 off) on Fenwick rods. Unfortunately they had no HMX 7'+ med heavies left. Might have to check and see if the one on the other end of town has any. Although I doubt it. Might have to wait til next year to get the BPS on a rod. Quote

Luckily the Gander Mtn I was planning on checking is about a block from the Cabela's in Rogers, MN. If one doesn't have them, hopefully the other will. Thanks for the heads up! Quote
