That is very light, how does it compare in terms of weight to some of the Ray's Studio and other inexpensive custom spools. Quote

I have a Ray's Microcast spool on my Fuego CT, that puppy weighs a little under 10.5g. The Abu weighs 5 ounces and my Fuego CT with the Ray's spool comes in at 7.2 ounces, pretty big difference. The Abu is so light it feels like a toy. I also have a Daiwa Air Stream Custom and the spool on that one comes in at 8.5g without the bearing. I think the most inexpensive lightweight spools you can get are those made by Roro and Amo, some of those are in the 4g range and the spools usually run $50 to $60. Quote

It is a great looking reel, I have a soft spot for ABU Garcia reels they are what I started with, I still have a couple left an old Revo Elite IB that is chrome and in amazing shape and what was my favorite reel then a Revo Premier Gen 2 in almost perfect condition. Little heavy by today's standards but both still fish amazing. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted July 8, 2020 Super User Posted July 8, 2020 I fish weightless plastics probably 70% of the time I'm on the water. Tried dozens of different rod/reel combinations, looking for the right setup. Most rods are too stiff to cast well, or too flimsy to drive the hook. That search finally ended....meet "Goldilocks." The DRX753C is the chosen one. This rod has the absolute perfect blend of power with a light tip. 8 Quote

The Bassman Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Got a new but old model Shimano the other day. I've owned several E series but never a Brenious. Got it from Digitaka. Couldn't believe they had one left considering it was discontinued four years ago. It was designed to be a saltwater BFS reel. The spool only holds 55 yds. of .23mm line. I filled mine with 15 lb. PP SS V2 and it works out perfectly. It comes with an older style 80mm handle that I swapped out with an aftermarket 90mm that I had. The spool is very narrow with an aggressive level wind that keeps the line from digging in. It has a 7.7 retrieve ratio and is the smoothest 50E that I've ever used, including a Core and Ald 50 MG7. Hope it stays that way. I took it out for a shakedown today and caught several including two 3+ like this one. It's my new favorite (at the moment lol). 6 Quote

I have yet to fish it, but I did cast around the yard for a bit with a 1/16 jig with the hook nipped off. Seems to work pretty good so far. This weekend will be its first trip on the water. Did it come with that spool? Looks great! Quote

It has the same spool, two less bearings, and an aluminum frame instead of magnesium. Comes in at 5 ounces. Quote

Nibbles Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Pulled out the BFS casting combo to play with today. Conquest 50S w/ polished/tuned spool shaft, ABEC-9 ceramic spool bearings mounted on a Major Craft Days DYC-682L/BF bait finesse rod. Lots of fun to fish this one. Quote
mrpao Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Beautiful reel. I have the regular Conquest 50 and Calcutta 50TE. Will probably keep them forever. Quote

thunderblack Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 So far I love it. It loads up great when hooked up and is a favorite for sure. The adjustable section is a pretty cool feature. Not sure why there wasn't much chatter on these. Great series Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 29, 2020 Super User Posted July 29, 2020 I needed a finesse spinning rod for my Father’s Day gift a Lew’s Speed Spin 200 The Lew’s TP1X is supposed to be released in the fall according to Tackle Warehouse but Dick’s sporting goods had 2 of them. I had a coupon for $20 off $100 so the rod and a pack of Rage Craws came home with me. http:// http:// http:// 1 Quote

thunderblack Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 It's not the LT SS but a JDM procyon IM. Very similar in looks though. Quote
Nibbles Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 New to me reel. First Megabass one, the Orochi Cover Hacking 10CHL. Almost stock, previous owner replaced the stock frame screws with red ZPI ones to match the color scheme. Pretty sweet and reminds me of a souped up, more refined TD-X. I might get to be the first to spool this baby up and fish it Probably pair it up with my OG Cielo TD-CEL701WJ heavy worm/jig rod 7 Quote
