I was considering picking up one of these myself but went with the SV again because I love the way it feels. Very mechanical like. Unlike the Shimano reels I own which are extremely smooth. I was also hesitant because I've seen the new cg 80 and wasnt very happy with paint overspray inside the spool cavity. So I went with another 8.1:1 sv. I like smaller reels. I love my currado 70, mgxtreme, and alderbaran because they are small and fit my hand better. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted October 20, 2018 Super User Posted October 20, 2018 I just got it so all I have is " yard time" to check it out. It is very similar in size to the CT models. It is under seven ounces. the spool tension came preset from the factory and the spool tension knob is both recessed in a raised collar and very hard to turn. That was not an issue. The reel is very smooth, not unlike my Tat SV or CT R's. The reel's control was set at 6 from the factory. Spooled it was #14 Super Natural. tied up a 3/8 jig only and started pitchin with it. Dropped the control to zero and was really pleased how the line came off. I also like the knobs a lot. moved the Mag Force back to 6 and started long casting with a 7-3 MH and the first cast was a bomb. Retrieve was very smooth. I was really surprised at the distance I could achieve with such little effort. Two things I found to be very positive: The progression of the Magforce setting is amazing. Each click produces a noticeable change in control. I could really dial the reel in to gain maximum distance with control. The 100 is a long caster. The second is the dis-engaging and re-engaging of the T wing. My other T wing models are loud when they engage. The 100 was much less noticeable. Firm but quieter, much more like a reel with traditional line guide system. I have big hands so the reel did feel smaller to me but comfortable to palm. Glad for the 90 MM handle. I'm liking what I see so far. To be frank, I did get a great deal on it, 109.00 so that was nice. Quote

My 7'2" MH abu ike rod doesn't have a reel on it. I was debating between tatula 100 reel or the color matching ike abu reel that t.w. just added to their inventory about 3 weeks ago. Is it sad I'm that much of a tackle junkie, I know when t.w. posts new gear? 1 Quote

JohnFromLisbon Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Here we go. Just got these this week. The G. Loomis GLX 785 crank bait rod and the Shimano Chronarch 201E5. I've wanted this combo since it came out. At the time I was working an entry level job and living alone, so it was pretty much out of the question. I never really gave up on the idea, and about 7 years and a lot of Facebook "for sale" posts on local groups later, here it is! Now I know what you're going to say. "But that's just a Curado E painted white!" and "that particular GLX wasn't as good as the current one, the gloss finish added weight to it. And a GLX for cranking is just overkill!". I agree. But look how awesome it looks! ? 7 Quote

I recently stumbled upon a Fenwick Techna AV and I just got to own a second one (first one is a two pieces) I received the reel to pair with it at job today (KK Spartacus Plus) Will pick it up tomorrow, can't wait! 1 Quote

It's the only possible explanation for buying old Chronarchs and Curados at *new* Curado prices. Man, those things shot up in value, at least around here. 1 Quote

It's just a piece of red electrical tape holding the line on the spool. But you're on to something with the red braid, I might give it a go ? Quote
