illinifan4152 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 It’s that time of year to start putting stuff away here where I’m at. Snows on the ground and the lakes are starting to freeze if not already frozen. Firgured I would take a pic of my pitchin setups. Pair of MB Orochi XX Perfect pitch rods with a JDream and a SV103xs. Awesome setups. Highly reccomended. 5 Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted January 5, 2018 Super User Posted January 5, 2018 Been playing dress up to a few reels. Blue TD-Z Type R+ has been a chore. Drive shaft threads for the nut are stripped and the availability of them is non existent. Ruined anyway, I decided to see if I could mill it down and tap it to accept a Steez bolt that what comes on the Steez LTD, Steez SV TW, etc. Got er' first try. (after using 3 different bits...finally figured out the threads) . Now I just need to find a blue steez nut and a nicer handle. 2 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 6, 2018 Super User Posted January 6, 2018 Been playing a bit also. I just had 40 thousandths milled off the stock SV103 inductor to shorten it up. Hopefully it frees up the spool a little bit from being so over braked. Same spool as the Steez sv103 minus being made of G1. Quote

Changing the spring did not get it done??? I have a good friend with a mill, tig welder, and a lathe. He likes to make stuff lol. The spring swap does help but the longer inductor just slows the spool down too much for me. Hoping the removal of some material helps that out. By theory it should. Not as much of the inductor will be in the magnetic field so it won’t be as braked. Didn’t know how much to take off though. I used the zillion sv tw inductor as the baseline since that spool performs great in that reel. No harm done if it doesn’t work out. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted January 6, 2018 Super User Posted January 6, 2018 I figured you tried to match something that worked well good to know what your refrence was. Talking my dad into a handle mod to steez screw mod. Will see how that works out. Quote
JBradley500 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Since this is my favorite thread on this forum, I probably should add to it when the chance arises. My new frog setup, thanks to Christmas gift cards. 7 Quote

Talking my dad into a handle mod to steez screw mod. Will see how that works out. It's actually very simple. I did my TD-Z /w a bench vise, dremel and a corded power drill. Drive shaft was surprisingly soft. Hardest part was stopping 4313534 times making sure I was dead center. Now that I know how to do it, I'll be using the father in laws bench vise and drill. Quote
evilcatfish Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Decided the FMJ needed a different reel, new Tatula SV outfitted with a RCS carbon handle and SLP knobs. I think the neon green really pops. Now for tuning and Bocas... 2 Quote
