Make sure the line tie is straight and centered, I've had a couple that weren't. So funny you would say that bro.... My line tie is crooked as all get out and i got a floating model when i ordered a slow sink! Mike claims some of the line ties are crooked due to tuning them before shipping. Now i have to return it for the right sink rate. The package is marked slow sink. 1 Quote
WI_Angler1989 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I've been tempted by some new stuff! Time to find out for myself what all the hubbub is about. 2 Quote

I wouldn't think you could twist a line tie on a cured resin bait very much without it breaking. As sloppy as they are they do catch fish. Quote

Think I'm going to pass on this and go for a Mattlures strong shad instead. For $70 i expect way better...... Just saying Quote

Things happen sometimes and he will take care of you if there's an issue. They catch fish for sure and I wouldn't write it off without using it first. There's plenty of proof that they work just fine. $70 is towards the lower end of swimbaits when it comes to price. For a handmade bait that really not bad. Matt, also make some great baits. The hardgill is awesome. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 8, 2017 Super User Posted March 8, 2017 Matt is a one man operation, and doesn't seem to have these issues. 2 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 8, 2017 Super User Posted March 8, 2017 Yeah, I've only seen a few ever mentioned in like 3 years. He also only does like 2-3 releases a year so that's probably why there are only a few issues. Mike's trying to keep up with orders and also keeping the shelves stocked at all the places that carry his stuff. Is that a good reason... no definitely not but it is what it is I guess. He still makes a proven bait that catches fish though. Just saying I wouldn't write it off quite yet. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 8, 2017 Super User Posted March 8, 2017 Get one of these...so worth the wait: 1 Quote

There's one on eBay right now. I just can't pay that for a bait. If i did i would have to throw it on steel wire to make sure i didn't lose it, lol. The Hinkle shad also looks really good! Seems like the bull shad quality control took a fall since he stopped making them himself. Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted March 8, 2017 Super User Posted March 8, 2017 Man I am really starting to want to grab a sv103 while they are still around but I have no real use for one at the moment. I think I could justify a second sv105 to go with a Daiwa BBB telescoping rod I just picked up, but to be honest there is no issue just moving the one from my jerkbait rod to the BBB when I need it for a hike or trip. I have next week off and am going to post my entire arsenal, I am sure you guys can find a hole somewhere a sv103 could fill. 1 Quote

I had no use for one either but now I have two of them. Sometimes you get tired of using the same reels over and over and it's nice to freshen up your lineup with something different. I took off a monoblock and zonda 68 to make room for the SV103's. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted March 9, 2017 Super User Posted March 9, 2017 Well, I have only been fishing for like three years, so I shouldn't be tired of anything at this point! I am already into my second wave of rods and reels, having almost finished replacing all the random stuff I bought before I had even the slightest idea what I was doing or what I wanted. Quote

I was actually really surprised by how much I liked the Canada Craw color. I had only ever seen the TRD online and boy was I wrong about which colors I'd like! Green Pumpkin is obviously a winner, but I thought the blue craw would be my favorite. Quote
kroberts9 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I was looking at the ss sv103 jdm model thing weight 5.3 Oz ! I think that's the lightest reel I have ever heard of Quote

There was a sale? Dang, I just got a Perfect Pitch. If anybody is on the fence about an XX, get off of it and buy the rod. They are AMAZING. Quote

Logan S Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Latest acquisition...Megabass X4 711. Was respooling the other day and snapped this pic too Also picked up a Tatula HLC 8.1 for my frog rod, which is a Zillion 7'4" H. Will be one of my few non Shimano/Megabass combos. 6 Quote
