Decided to try a gold handle instead of the carbon fiber one on my Conquest.  The stock handle was WAY too short.  When I got it I had a spare 95mm DIY carbon handle I threw on there with the factory knobs.  I decided I wanted to see how the gold looked.  I ordered an Avail 100mm handle and RCS cork knobs.  I think I like it better?  Which one do you guys think looks better?

That gold handle is sweet!  I need one for my CQ.  :eyebrows:

Haha. Would let you fish them if you are nearby! Both sticks feel great casting and pitching various lures in the yard. Crisp and really clean builds. Going out on Friday hoping to test out sensitivity and feel under a heavy load!

Hey I'm a young fisherman and I love shimano reels. I have a 13 met and it's my favorite. I want to know how is the Calcutta conquest.  Chatterbaits are my favorite and I was wondering will a Calcutta conquest be better for chatterbaits than the metanium. Since I throw chatterbaits 50 % of the time I would like to have the absolute best reel for it. Thanks in advance

welcome young fisherman!  you'll get a much better number of responses for your post if you'll start you a new thread over the rods, reels, line and knots subforum.  then everybody can see it and give you some good answers to your question.

The Conquest and other round reels, really excel for moving baits. For a dedicated chatterbait reel I would pick it over the Metanium as I prefer a reel with an aluminum frame and a touch more weight behind it. It is wicked smooth and powerful and you will hardly be able to tell you have a resistance bait tied to the end of your line. When I fish a chatterbait in the spring or fall I am fishing it slow. I want just enough pace to the bait to make the trailer tail kick a bit side to side.

My new spinning setup. Lew's TL4000H, Powell Endurance 7'1" Med-Heavy Ex-Fast.

Quick question. How do you eliminate line twist on a spinning reel? I never really paid attention in the past.

With braid you dont really got to worry about it. But if you ever throw a weightless pastic try to add a swivel, they tend to twist in the water

Just got these in the mail. It's been a long time since buying new rods and reels and I'm blown away by the sz of the 201HG. Definitely gonna pick up a 101HG and probably a 301HG for the bigger stuff.

Which one u leaving on? I think I like the gold, I was also looking at the gold handle on Hedge-Hog. I'm gonna put those EVA foam knobs on mine. I've never felt the Daiwa cork knobs how do u like them? They r cork correct? It's really nice that u can put whatever knobs u want on those handles except the ABU I believe.

I am going to keep the gold.  I think I like the look better and it feels more solid.  I had never had the RCS knobs before, I like them a lot.  I have a set of Avail EVA knobs I tried on there and prefer these.
