very nice!  this is what i'm looking for myself, something light enough to handle some small cranks, jerks or poppers.

The 2pwr is rated for 3/8oz

The 3pwr is rated for 1/2oz

The 3 power will handle 1/2oz but it feels like it's at its limit. 3/8oz is its sweet spot. According to Goose the 2 power will handle 3/8oz but it's near its limit also. If the 2 power follows suit then 1/4oz will be the sweet spot for it. It'll be a fun combo.  Both are rated as fast action and I'd give the 713 a mod/fast rating slightly more towards fast but the 2 power is definitely a lot more towards the mod end of the spectrum.

thanks for that, the poppers/cranks i have in mind are 1/4 oz so that sounds like a good option for me.  i'm a little overloaded on MH rods and looking to step one down to a ML or something like that so thanks for the info!

Just keep in mind that the 682C is indeed a "light power" and as rippin-lips said, it might be rated as "fast" action but if you put the rod under load and look at the curvature of the blank - you're probably closer to moderate than fast action.

I went to the 682C after fishing medium-light power rods quite a bit - so, I knew what I was getting into. If you have been fishing medium-heavies mostly, I'm afraid that you might be disappointed in the 682C and will feel that it's a noodle-rod. Give it some thought - you might want to consider a medium-light before dropping down to the "light" 682C.

thanks for that Goose... i have a Dobyns Champion 682C, but sounds like it's a beefier rod than the phenix 682 maybe?  and my dobyns 682c feels to me like a true fast action rod...  but that's my uneducated opinion on that matter.  i'll probably try to get my hands on whatever i buy because as you said, i don't want to feel like a wet noodle, but soft enough to throw the baits i intended...

thanks fellas!

and now back to the regularly scheduled show "tackle junkies"

And I believe that is a JDM Orichi XX rod as evidenced by the red trim pieces! Never seen anyone with one before. Nice!

Love this thread, moved from PA to TX recently and I'm an hr from Lake Fork, YESSS lol. Started fishing tourneys on it with a local club as a co. My PA rods didn't cut it so I'm in the process of aquiring a whole new arsenal. I too consider myself a high end tackle junky. Once my master plan is complete I will post pics and hopefully be accepted into the cult mmmwwaahahahaha. Bent rods and tight lines to all!

There are a bunch.  I've personally purchased from - Digitaka, JLS, Samurai Fishing, bass.jp, and Japan Angler.  It mostly comes down to who has what in stock for me sometimes.  Some rods are just hard to come by, or are produced in 'runs' and once sold out you have to wait to wait for the next round.  That's what I had to do with my Ultima.  Paid for it then 3 weeks later it was shipped after the next run was made.

I scored a 100ml last week for cheap. I'm excited to try it out.
