Good stuff.  That is pretty much the same stuff I throw on my Stradic CI4+/5'6" St. Croix Premier rig.

Awesome thanks. Do you think it has enough backbone for small single hooks like 3" senkos?

I think it be fine for 3" senkos. It has a moderate taper but that should have enough power for that size bait. I will definitely be giving those a shot once ice thaws over here!

The wait was finally over for my dedicated jig rod and reel as I was informed by my builder it should be delivered on Saturday. Took a few weeks of planning and sourcing parts to get the things I wanted visually and fitment wise. Parts were sourced from Mudhole and Matagi to add further appeal. The blanks was the MHX Hi Mod 7'3 Heavy and the guides are Fuji alconites. Paired with an Exscence DC with a few gold pieces added, this should be a fun rig to use.

Very classy build. Nice and clean!

Thanks Rippin! I wanted to incorporate gold, black and variations of grey including both gloss and matte between both the reel and rod. I also wanted to omit other items like "Built by" and "Built for". There were two decals added between the foam grips. One decal was the MHX rod decal and the other one was from Matagi. Decals were placed at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position. Doing so helped keep the wait in the back end of the rod. Balance ended up being right in front of the fore grip piece.

I usually don't "like" a post in this thread unless it has a fish in it (or it has a round reel) but this rod is so elegant it deserves a BIG LIKE !

That's probably the most beautiful combo I've seen so far. May I ask what the whole set up's weight is?

Looking at your rod makes me want to get a custom rod now haha, but I must resist!

Sadly I forgot to have the builder weigh it prior to shipping and I don't have a scale. The 874 Hi Mod blank by itself is 2.7 ounces. The finished rod is likely around 5 I would think but I would need to obtain a good scale to get the numbers. It doesn't feel heavy and balance is perfect. The reel is 8.5 ounces due to the DC unit. The whole outfit is probably 13-14 ounces but you wouldn't know it holding it due to the balance. Wasn't made with the weigh weenie in mind but to fish heavy jigs in around moderate to heavy cover.

hey adam, what you plan on throwing with that setup?  just curious since it's a light casting rod what you intended to use it for?

Anything 1/8-1/4oz +\- a couple grams I can find. I did some weighing of baits and terminal tackle the other day. I was able to put together a decent little plastics selection for it. I already have the 3 power Recon and I've wanted to try this one out for awhile now. Finally found one used.

Finesse or Trick worms weightless or with 1/16-1/8 weight.

3/4" senkos weightless

3" grubs with 1/16-1/8 heads

neko rigs using 1/16-1/8oz heads or 3/32 nail weight

Keitechs fat and regular  2-4" weightless or with 1/16-1/8oz jig head on the smaller ones.

Ned rigs

Also some small cranks and poppers that I have.
