Really excited for this combo! I will primarily use it for Jerkbaits and Topwater. I'll spool it with 13lb Sunline Defier Armilo. The Type R+ was brand new, I just put HH bearings in it and Carbontex drag. The Ultima is simply beautiful can't wait to fish it. Is it Spring yet??????

Yeah, I gotta get the plastic off and wipe it down so I can seal it. It'll also darken it up a bit and bring out the grain in the cork.

You're gonna like that rod. What are your plans for it?

Nothing specific in mind. Just use it whatever it'll work for. More than likely heavier t rigs and 3/8 jigs.

Here is an idea of how I roll. Sorry for the not so great pics, they were the best I could do before the rain started coming down. This is my complete lineup for 2016, but as you all know, things will surely change throughout the year:rolleyes: Most of these do not have the line they will have once fishing starts, so in the description of the reels, I will use the line I will be using during the season, not the line currently on the reel.

You only live it once, so might as well live it right. And I have to take advantage of it now before real life starts and I have to start paying rent and taxes! Many of these rods and reels have come from recommendations from various site members, So thank you to those who have helped me, and thank you to this great site! Tight lines.

Thinking about getting a MGX as a graduation present for myself. How has yours treated you?

I like it, but dont love it. I had two, but sold one. If you get one, shop around. Ive seen them going for $220 new at a few retailers. I definitely enjoy it, but wouldnt buy another. It isnt as smooth and the tolerances are not as tight as other reels in that price range. I feel is excels at around 1/4-3/8oz lures. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have, those are just my general thoughts on the reel.

Anytime! You were one of the people that convinced me to try my first Powell Endurance, and as you can see, I liked them:D. Appreciate the help you gave me introducing me to one of my favorite rods. Tight lines Wdy!

Thanks! Which reel(s) do you prefer over it? Other than the steezes. Lol

I prefer the Alphas SV105SH over it, that reel is a crazy value for $200. Just get a 90mm handle for it for another $20 and youre good. I also love my Lews Team Pro, but I got it two months ago, so to soon to tell. Plus you can get them on closeout on the auction site, where I got mine for 30% off retail. I also love my Tournament Pros. I dont know what it is, but they are a sweet reel for their price, and have been tremendous workhorses for me for the past two seasons. I do really enjoy using my MGX as well, I dont want it to sound like Im bashing it too bad. It certainly has its place in my arsenal. But these three reels offer some stiff competition, especially since all three can be had for $200 or less, which is almost half the retail of the MGX.

Very nice collection! I am waiting on a few pieces before I do a "family photo" of mine. It will probably be a few months yet before I get these pieces but it should be worth the wait. I suppose I could do one of what I have now but I have too many moving pieces (reels in for service, rod shuffling, and things in transit).

I hear you man. Ive been debating whether or not to do this for the past couple months, since pieces are always moving and nothing seems set for long enough. Cant wait to see your collection!

Thanks, and I am looking forward to what I hope will be better year health wise allowing me to fish more. My plan was to downsize to about 15 casting and spinning rigs combined from about 40. Well that didn't quite go as planned, and I ended up only buying higher end pieces. Something like 16 casting rigs and 8 spinning maybe more. I am about 3 rods away from having mates for everything. When the time is right I will get the photos up!
