A few more now that I got the baitmonkey out of the wrapper and the reel adjusted to my liking.....

The 13” rear grip and Matching Foregrip made my whole winter. I expect to order a few more of their rods.

Doooooobbbbyyyyynnnnnsssss Xtasyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.  And the crowd roars.  His cut man is a Champion 732SF. Picked up the reels after Thanksgiving.

Let us know how that xtasy compares to other high end rods in that price range.

I bought a FMJ last spring and it’s an amazinrg rod. Great jig rod but it can do a lot more.

What other things did you use it for?

I only carry a single rod when bank fiishing so I try to find presentations for each rod to cover bottom/mid/top.

The FMJ is obviously great for all things bottom.  For mid-column it works pretty great for chatterbaits, the rod has a good blend of power/taper for ripping them through grass.  The hooksets are great and the rod loads enough to help keep them on. For topwater I was surprised how well it worked for walking a Shudderstep, the tip is pretty good for walking/twitching heavier lures. I have also thrown a BBZ Rat 40 on it to good success.  Anything with thicker trebles works pretty well but I dial the drag way back and use my thumb to add pressue as needed.

I use Cover Craws a lot in shallow pads and the FMJ does pretty good with them but 3/8 oz is really about the lower limit where it will load well. This comming sprinng I have some assorted 6” and up stickbaits and some 8” lizards I want to try on it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these reels on this thread, and with the rod/reel trade in at Cabela’s along with some gift cards I decided to pull the trigger. Daiwa  Tatula SV TW 103HS. It’ll be going on an original 7’2 H Tatula Rod as my jig set up

Latest purchase

FMJ & Steez A

Great combo.  I have a FMJ and keep swapping out between a Steez SV TW and a sv103 on it.  I think the Steez A would be the "Goldilocks" reel for that rod.

Starting lineup for 2019. Right now they are hibernating till spring?

I had like 8 baitcasters and 3 spinning for a while but I decided I would rather have fewer "nicer" combos. This encouraged me to sell my silver maxes, American heroes, etc. and buy these instead.   Not much compared to some of you but saving for a car, boat, and college keeps me a little restricted. I've been working my butt off saving for a small boat so all those times walking out of the tackle shop empty handed better pay off eventually!

Grabbed this guy for $5 at an estate sale.  It's still relatively smooth, but the handle bearings are smoked and it could use a cleaning, relube, and some updating.  I got on the horn with Jerry Foran and ordered some Carbontex drag washers, Boca Lightning spool bearings, and some light weight brake blocks.  I had a chrome Abu handle with gray grips sitting in the parts bin, so that will find a new home on my Pro Max 3600.  Too bad Abu no longer makes the Pro Max, Silver Max, and Black Max like they did in the early/mid 90s.  The reels that now bear those names are way inferior.
