18RangerZ520L why did you trade in the Exsence reels?

I figure he has a prostaff deal based on his conquest post,  so if you can get them at a good price....why not?

I think I just got a smoking deal on ebay.  Found an Loomis CR723 GLX misslabled as a GL3, with a reel for $300.  I emailed the seller and they confirmed it was a GLX, so I jumped on it.  I have an IMX version of that rod and love it, so I am pumped to be able to upgrade to the GLX version.

However, I cannot figure out what reel I am getting, it looks like either a Luna or a Millionaire, but not exacty either.  Anyone have an idea what it is?

Daiwa Millionaire 253A. That's what the side plate says.

Yep...you got a good deal!  Those CVZ reels go for about $150 in that shape (maybe a little more) and the GLX is older with the Wiebe reel seat.  That's a nice setup but the reel may be a little wide and large for that rod.

Hah, for some reason when I was looking at the pictures on my phone I couldn’t see that the reel was two-tone, it was incredibly obvious when I opened the pictures on a computer.

Yea, I’m pretty excited!   I don’t think I have a use for the real, so I’ll probably sell it.  If I can get 150 bucks for it then the rod becomes an incredible deal.  As I said, I love the IMX version of the rod and I’m really excited to be able to fish it head to head with the GLX version.

The reel is worth about $100 these days. Possibly up to $125 if it’s in really good condition and the buyer doesn’t care if it has a box and documents or not. Still not a bad deal on the rod if you are able to sell the reel for $100.

Yea, I have been looking around a bit and they don't seem to have much of a following. I have found very very little info about them.

If you look at CV-Z 103 JDM and other varieties of the JDM (105, 203, 205), they used to be quite popular.  In fact, many versions of the 103 have been made including the M-Ito, Ringa, Light, Bay Special, etc.

It's clearly a shakespeare reel. The guy bought such an expensive rod that's all he could afford for the reel.  JK that is a killer deal you found on that combo!

This classic showed up today and it came with the ZPI GP-R spool!

I just wanted "the best", that's it...  Nothing at all wrong with the Exsence's.

No sir, not a pro-staffer.  Wish I was, I could have gotten them even cheaper...

I did get a good deal on them though along with all my other rods/reels..... :wink3:

Just a look at my rod/reel collection - be kind, I'm just getting back into fishing after over a decade's absence

Left to Right

Pflueger 640 on a 4.5' LA/F Ugly Stick - this is my panfish rod, loaded with 4# mono -30+ year old reel, new rod

Cardinal 562 on a 6' MA/M Berkley Enforcer - loaded with 8# mono -rod and reel 30+ years old

Garcia Avocet RZ on a matched 6.5' ML/F Avocet RZ rod - loaded with 8# mono - new purchase

Pflueger Trion 30 on a 6' MA/F Ugly Stick - loaded with 8# flouro - new purchase

Ambassadeur 500r on a matched 6' MA/M Ambassadeur rod - loaded with 25# braid, 12# mono leader - 15 year old pair

I know I'm light on variety right now, but remaining money the wife deigned to allow me to spend is going for mods on the canoe as well as a Lowrance and a portable mount for the transducer.

@MN Fisher Woah that  Pflueger 640 is pretty awesome! Still works and everything?! I've seen them before but they are never in working order.

I've owned it since it was new in the box. Kept it up and still works like it was new. I take care of my stuff ;)

How do you like that spool?  What is the braking profile most comparable to?

I love the spool...not sure what to compare it to but it has a fixed inductor and is very hard to backlash.  I get great distance out of it with a lot of control.  I guess it could be compared to some version of the SV series but not sure which (maybe Zillion TWS SV).  ZPI just released newer versions of this spool and they are like $140.  I think I got a deal with this already being in the reel.

I sprung and made my most expensive and hopefully worth it new drop shot rod. I just bought a a new 6'11 megabass destroyer addermine. It will be paired with a either my tatula Lt or my ci4

Getting parts installed on the Steez sv tw. Zpi pg spool with Zpi Sic bearings. Upgraded drag star, 90mm carbon handle with rcs cork knobs and hedgehog gold knob caps. Still waiting on my Hedgehog order to get here next week. Some other Zpi and Hedgehog goodies coming for it.

Took you long enough to get oneB)

What colors did you go with? I went champagne gold on the locking nut, screws, pawl cap, and line guide. Put a black retainer around the nut on the Zillion Type R carbon fiber handle. Really like the looks of it. Steez A is a bit harder. It's more of a gun metal grey and can't figure out a good prom dress for it.

I had to wait for the right deal to come along. Same color and parts basically as you. I had the handle bolt in my cart but took it out. Maybe later on down the road.

Cabela’s find courtesy of the help from another member on here.  Bargain cave item and looks barely used.  A classic workhorse reel.
