Well, if you HAD put that Met MGL on an 893, it would have looked like this (properly slimed up of course)...

Maybe for the next MGL I get ;)

I fished the EMTF today and used it for T-rigs, Jigs, and Keitech 4.8s (Met MGL XG is awesome for keitechs by the way) and I'm super pleased. Might be ordering a Perfect Pitch here soon since I need a new frog rod.

Perfect pitch is an awesome rod.  I use it for frogs, heavy jigs and punching.

Agreed 100%, bought it primarily flip and pitch duty but now its my dedicated frog rod.

I finally replaced a couple rods that I accidentally snapped under a tie down cleat. So far they're performing well!

My only legit bass fishing rod is a St. Croix Mojo Bass and an Abu Black Max.  I've got some other rods for panfish and trout.  I'm definitely gonna upgrade the reel before getting any more rods because it isn't as smooth as some of the spinning reels I'm used to.

I am determined to learn how to fish a jig.  Next time out, these are all that are coming with me....

That's how I became comfortable with a jig: using it exclusively for a while. I learned during the pre-spawn when they were hungry. There are those that'll tell you that you must set the hook hard right away, but in my case I only started having success when I delayed the hookset a second or two. I do set hard, but not till I reel down until I feel the weight of the fish. Before learning this, I was just jerking the jigs out of their mouths.

Well, you certainly have some effective equipment to accomplish the task !

I don't know which casting NRX you have in the photo but this 894C with a Met on it accounted for my biggest jig fish so far this year - 6.7 lbs - so I know your combo should work...

Thanks Goose!  That is a great looking fish.  That Met in on a 803c.  The spinning rod is a 852s...a little light for a jig, but that setup skips a bait so nicely I thought it may be good for getting under docks/cover.  My next NRX will be a 4 power.

Very nice choices, and welcome!

Excellent reels.  Exsence DC has been awesome on frogs and heavy jigs.  Core has been on my list for a while.  Is that the 101mg?

Really thought I was going to get an NRX 893 but I was able to feel an EMTF and I just fell in love with it.

Best Rod ever made in my opinion, amazingly right and is the perfect power for so many applications

Nice Calcutta!  I agree on the longer handle...makes all the difference in the world.  How long is that one?  I went 100mm on my Conquest.

It's the 102mm swept hawgtech, so basically same length as yours. It has so much more power for the big swimbaits
