John G Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Very nice John. What line are you using on each setup ? Thank you Matt! 7# Sniper FC on all three setups. It has everything that I look for in a FC. Affordable, easy to manage with no line treatment and sensitive. 2 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 14, 2015 Super User Posted November 14, 2015 Nice catch John! Sort of an irrelevant question: Do you only BFS or do you use spinning and traditional sized casting year as well? 1 Quote
John G Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Nice catch John! Sort of an irrelevant question: Do you only BFS or do you use spinning and traditional sized casting year as well? Thank you! At the moment, I am only using BFS gear. I know that it's not practicle in every situation so that is why I am debating getting a combo to throw heavier T Rigs because before I got bit by the BFS bug, heavier T Rigs was how I caught the majority of my fish. 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 14, 2015 Super User Posted November 14, 2015 No problem and I apologize for asking (not trying to pick on you). It was more of a curiousity thing. I know some guys only toss swimbaits (opposite side of the spectrum), some only use casting year, and some only spinning. It sure would be fun to only have BFS gear but quite costly to do it right. Your stuff is top notch! Good luck with your search for more of an "all rounder"! Lots of good options out there with no need for special spools. 1 Quote
stk Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 1st swim bait setup How does the levante feel? I'm pretty interested in those rods. Quote

I did not mind your question at all or take any offence. BFS is downright fun IMHO. Largemouth Bass do not have a reputation for being the strongest battlers but with BFS, even a little bass will put a real good bend in your rod and if you are not using braid and are using a light line like 7# Sniper, you have to be careful or you will break off. John G Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Catching nice fish on sick gear is so satisfying ☺ what did you do with the MSX Limited rod? Getting skunked on sick gear is also satisfying. LOL I was fishing small cranks with it right after I got but I haven't used it in a while. The reason is because I am going to use it for drop shot with a Conquest 50 and I need a shallow spool. I plan on getting red parts for the Conquest 50 to match the gold and red on the rod. Quote
Diggy Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 How does the levante feel? I'm pretty interested in those rods. The rod feels good, Im happy with it. Its not super heavy so I had no issue with multiple casts. I almost tied on a jig at one point. I threw a storm kickin shad and a shell cracker on it today. I didn't have any heavier baits with me than those two but it handled them with ease. Its rated up to 6oz supposedly. I had 2 bites, one came off the shell cracker and I saw another bass chomping the shad but it didn't commit. I cant really speak on how it handled any fish. I bought a fuji hook keeper from BPS when I bought the 25lb cxx I put on the reel, doesn't have one if that matters to you. Once I get back from work travel next week, Ill be able to test it with heavier savage gear lures I bought on clearance a while back. Now I can actually use them. Quote
poisonokie Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Here's a little bit better shot of my rod rack. To me it's a thing of beauty. Especially with that new Luna 103L on my cranking stick. That reel is amazing. 4 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 17, 2015 Super User Posted November 17, 2015 Well the fishing season here is finally done. Temps forecasted in the 30s and 40s and lows in the 20s with snow. Decided to snap a few photos of the casting reels I finished the year with once I removed them from their respective rods. I will work on getting better pictures and lighting when I have more time. These were the "dirty dozen". Half Shimano and half Daiwa so there would be no hard feelings. Group shot of the chosen 12 The 50's For the Hawgtech boys! Some Alphas love! For the TDZ fans! Stealth mode! Team Shimano! Team Daiwa! I will do a photo update at a later date and also do combo photos with the rods. Fish slime to be added later though all have caught and reeled in fish. This will have to do for now. 16 Quote

illinifan4152 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Nothing like finding a Diamond in the Rough!!! very lightly used from my local tackle shop. Too bad there was only one.. typically you would have paid twice as much for one in worse condition on the bay! Can not explain my excitement! 10 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 26, 2015 Super User Posted November 26, 2015 $150. No tax! That is a very good price. I would imagine you can buy a set of the D7 gears should you choose to. Quote
