Capt.Bob Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I'm pretty much a Daiwa guy. I use ten baitcasters and four spinning setups. Here are most of my baitcasters....... Prety obvious the man knows what he likes,,,,,,, Nice assortment Quote
SenkoGuru Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 New alde hg, hedgehog airs, zpi offset handle, thats it. Love it as is. Might pair it with the Ultima if yumeya makes a finesse spool for it... Fantastic looking reel. Quote
hzzhangc Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Hooked a 3.5 pounder on first cast (pretty decent size in north OH). As you can see on pic 1 the bank is high and steep (around 10 ft above the water) so finally I lost it.Pic 2 is interesting. I wanna try the TYPE R+ spool for a longtime and finally got one. Use the normal set up and got a really bad backlash on first cast. When I was clearing it I feel something is moving on the other side of the line. I pulled the line with my hand and set the hook. It took me another minute to fix the backlash and fortunately the fish is still there. Not a big one but still fun. 3 Quote
C0lt Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Just put together a cranking combo that I think has a really good cost to value ration. I have a 7ft medium cranking duckett ghost paired with a lews carbon fire (I work at dicks and this is our exclusive version of the lews speed spool (somewhere between the lazer and lfs series. Put the whole rod together for 130 with my employee discount and spooled it up with a half spool of p line I had laying around. cant wait to hit the water tomorrow. Quote

I got it for pitching, but it works well for deeper cranks as well.. Quote

Give me a few more days to really get familiar with it and I'll send you a pm, or possibly write a review since I couldn't find any on the forum. Going out on my friends boat Friday so that should help out it through its paces. Looks good. Love the ghost. I just got the 73 MH with a lews BB1 spooled with 15 lb mccoy mean green. I got it for pitching, but it works well for deeper cranks as well.. love the ghost. Myself and most of the guys I work with have come to the conclusion that for 99 dollars the ghost is hard to beat. In my personal opinion it's one of the best value rods there is. By the end of June I hope to pick up one of the heavy power versions. Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted May 7, 2015 Super User Posted May 7, 2015 Decided to do some work while at work, and tear it down for cleaning. It's ready for Saturday. 90mm CF handle with SLP Works zion knobs. It's a Daiwa SS SV for anyone wondering. 6 Quote
I.rar Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Got the avail in and finally took a pic. Man that thing is Shallow. As some of you seen my posts,im still very undecided about what rod I'm going to go with. My carbonlite works but I know there are better options. I haven't caught anything with it yet but it casts amazing. Maybe I'll continue to work on the reel by adding a longer handle, metal drag star and carbontex drag that I've been putting off. 2 Quote
hzzhangc Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Major craft offers some nice BFS rods with reasonable price. Quote

John G Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I have a Core 51e aluminum drag star assembly that needs a new home.If you buy the Core 51 Drag Star, you better buy the drag star nut because I don't think that the CU51E nut will work. I think it's too big. Quote
dag3220 Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I currently have a stock Aldebaran bfs. Just wondering how light of lures you can cast with your upgrades on an approiate rod? 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Lightest lures i throw are 1/8oz jerkbaits, 3 inch wacky senkos. Stock spool should handle most finesse baits easily with the right light action bfs rod. Quote

Sweet reels man......What type of line you running on those reels you throw the jerkbaits on? ?.......Just picked up a scorpion xt after yrs of hate lol. don't dig the new style reels but the BFS xg and limited are sweet so are the mg/mg7s.....You have any insight on the brenious? I love the 50 frame 1 Quote

I love the 50 frame thanks, i typically use 4-6lb hybrid, 4-8lb floroclear for all finesse fishing. I havent used the brenious but whats not to like, 7:7 brass gears, shallow spool, and 50 frame, I prefer the bfs xg cause its a slightly lighter spool and lighter reel in general. Or just drop a shallow spool in your scorpion xt. Im selling an avail & zpi spool for the shimano 50 size platform if interested... 1 Quote

I actually have the scorpion for my general plastics rod. The brenious would actually go on my jerkbait rod or I may switch it around...but I am looking into a second reel. And for 180 TMD the brenious is a cost friendly shallow spool solution versus a scorpion at 150 plus a 100 spool. Plus the scorpion and the brenious are both salt rated which is nice here.....I have read the aluminum 50s are preferred by some.....so before I got the scorpion I was set on an alphas SV but price and availability were its down fall. How'd you like the pixy or alphas for cast lighter weights? Like 1/4 jerks or light t-rigs. Again thanks for the info Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 13, 2015 Super User Posted May 13, 2015 Here is my rig. Scorpion XT 1000 on a 6-9 mh veracity Good stout and sensative plastic setup. 3 Quote
